Real Love
As Valentine’s Day approaches, the stores are festooned with pink and red heart-shaped cards, balloons, and stacks of candy — the customary gifts of love.

But let’s face it: Most people have little understanding of what real love is. The river of worldly messages constantly pouring from popular media usually confuses real love with physical lust or emotional infatuation.

Real love is about much more than talk and feelings. It’s about sacrifice. And God gave us the ultimate example when His beloved Son sacrificed himself on the cross to save us!

Sadly, many people don’t have a clue how much God loves them. They don’t know it can bring healing and peace to a troubled soul. The power of His love can transform their lives!

If only they could hear God’s profound invitation: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

That’s what Amazing Facts’ mission is — to help people see the love of Jesus. This is our supreme objective in all of our media, evangelism, and publishing … to point to Christ and teach others to trust in His love. We cannot do one without the other, for “God is love” (1 John 4:8).

A New Challenge
As you know, Amazing Facts is a ministry sharing the Jesus of the Bible. We’re reaching more people than ever with the love of God and the everlasting gospel.

But I have received some sobering news from one of our important ministry partners, The Hope Channel. For the first time ever, they need to begin charging Amazing Facts for air-time. Based on our current programs, that means an additional $120,000 per year to broadcast.

As monetary pressures increase on everybody, I fully understand their decision. However, because we were not prepared for the financial impact of this decision, along with the increased prices of other stations, this pushes us over budget. We are faced once again with some very hard choices in this new year.

My first thought was, “Shall we cut back on the other channels that are effectively reaching the lost so that we can stay on The Hope Channel? Or shall we scale back other areas of ministry, such as the Bible School, AFCOE, or public evangelism meetings so we can sustain our TV programs?”

These are difficult choices, but I’ve decided to not cancel any more stations right now. I’m going to pray and trust in God’s love to act through the goodness of His people. It hurts too much to go backward when we see so many coming to Christ through our programs.
Just last year, our television programs generated more than 75,000 responses from viewers all over the world. In connection with this, our correspondence team has handled nearly 12,000 email messages!

Tim in Australia was one of those watching our programs. He explained that for most of his life, he was turned off by Christianity because he couldn’t believe a loving God would cast people into eternal torment for their sins. Eventually, he came to hate God and spent several years outside the church. He had lost faith in God’s love.

But one day, he was introduced to Amazing Facts, and one of our messages helped him understand the true depth of God’s love. He writes, “After your sermon, I can finally say I believe in God again.” Tim has turned the corner and is now following Jesus and trusting in God’s love!

We see the love of God changing lives. That’s why we should be EXPANDING every aspect of this ministry at this crucial moment in history, not cutting back!
