As our children sit in front of their televisions, their impressionable little minds see an estimated 10,000 acts of violence and overhear countless innuendos about sex. They are also subjected to regular tirades of filthy language — in which the Lord’s name is often abused. They given thousands of sound-bites, both blatant and subliminal, about what they should think, say, eat, wear, buy, and do.
Our children are constantly being assailed by diabolical messages that are molding their characters and view of the world. They are facing life-altering decisions as a result. And I’m convinced that God's people need to be doing a lot more to help them resist these dangerous trends.
Robbed of Innocence
Secular marketing companies spend more than $2 billion each year to reach our kids with their messages … awful messages filled with worldly ideas about self-image, sexuality, fulfillment, and happiness.
As a result, drug use, viewing pornography, premarital sex, and all forms of rebellion against authority are happening at an earlier age than you and I dare to imagine.
Sometimes I feel that we, as Christians, are the ones fighting the least to influence our children’s lives. Advertisers don’t wait. The world doesn’t wait. Satan most definitely doesn’t wait. So why should we?
Evangelism — Just for Kids
The Bible has a lot to say about reaching children with the good news. And I am conviced that Amazing Facts needs to do more focused child evangelism. Our regular live and sateillite evangelism events do impact children a great deal, and we have received the joyous news that many little ones are coming to Christ through our outreach.
The Bible says, “Whosoever shall receive [a child] in my name, receiveth me” (Mark 9:37). The Gospel of Matthew adds, “It is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish” (18:14).
If our heavenly Father is not willing that any of our little ones should be lost, what are we doing to help the cause? It is our job to give our children a strong foundation in the Lord. That’s why this year, we are doing something very differently.
This coming fall, Amazing Facts is excited to introduce Amazing Adventure! It’s our new live satellite evangelistic event … aimed directly at kids ages 8 to 12!
It will be similar in some ways to our other satellite events that you have helped us with in the past — only this time, the entire event will be tailored to reach these precious young people.
Our plan is to broadcast the one-week event with 3ABN on September 12 thru 20 — near the beginning of the school year. It’s a great time for kids to invite their friends, both from school and their neighborhood, to a fun event that can help them get a strong spiritual start in the new school year. This program is also perfect for homeschooling families.
We’ll make the program enjoyable for both kids and parents. There will be exciting illustrations, interactive Bible questions, stirring music, and then a gospel message aimed at their hearts that is both intriguing and inspirational.
I’ll also be using amazing facts from science, nature, and history to present the gospel, so the program will be educational too. We will also talk about young Bible heroes like David, Samuel, Daniel, Josiah, and others who will encourage today’s kids to stand up for God.
And most important, we will highlight a strong personal relationship with the MOST amazing individual in the Bible — Jesus Christ.
Now Is the Time!
There is so much at stake when bringing a child into the kingdom of God. Just think — the years of heartache, trouble, and searching an unsaved adult goes through. Early conversions not only save souls, they save people from years of pain, regret, and wasted life … years without the joy of knowing our Savior.
In all my time of ministry, I’ve never met one person who was sorry they came to the Lord early in life. But sadly, I’ve met countless individuals who are sorry they waited so long. Let’s work together to give our kids the opportunity to know the Lord … NOW!
