Knowing God
Read Time: 2 min

You’d really like to get to know someone better, but alas, you’re unsure how to jumpstart a conversation. Maybe you feel awkward, shy, or just inexperienced at getting better acquainted with a special someone. Never fear, there are mountains of questions online that will give you a place to start!
Relationship gurus have crafted hundreds of questions that you can ask people you have just met, such as: If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time? What hobby would you get into if you had more time and money? How do you relax after a hard day at work?
Then there are questions that go deeper and help you to really get to know a person. For instance: In what situation would you feel most out of place? What was the best compliment you’ve ever received? What gets you fired up? What do you tell yourself most often?
When it comes to knowing God, many people shrug off the whole notion of getting acquainted with a “higher power” that seems too far away. After all, God is transcendent and beyond human comprehension, so why try? Yet the Bible teaches that eternal life comes from knowing God.
Is this even possible?
The good news is that God has already started the conversation. The Lord understands our predicament and took the initiative to communicate with humanity. Even when Adam and Eve first sinned in the beginning, God pursued them in Eden. “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day …” (Genesis 3:8).
Even though we will forever be learning about God, He has shown Himself to us so that we may enter into a meaningful relationship with Him and truly know Him.
Apply It:
Write a letter to God. Tell the Lord how much you would like to know Him better. Open up your heart to God like you would to a good friend.
