Nothing Is Hidden

Daily Devotional Audio

How do the sins of Babylon reach heaven? Today’s verse doesn’t mean that the sins of Babylon now infect God’s heavenly kingdom or that the Creator had forgotten about her iniquity but has suddenly remembered them. Rather, the sins of Babylon have reached a tipping point where our longsuffering God cannot and will not permit it to go on any longer.

This has happened before in world history. In the days of Noah, the wickedness of mankind was so great that God sent floodwaters to destroy violent, unrepentant people: “Every intent of the thoughts of [man’s] heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). Only Noah and his family, a remnant, were saved through the cataclysm. And note that nothing is “hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13).

The eye of God pierces all, down to our very motivations; even our thoughts will pass before His judgment seat. “As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matthew 24:37). Scripture warns we are heading into a time of irreparable wickedness. Even now, it seems that minds are constantly engaged with and directed to “only evil continually.”

Even still, God can take us from the mire and cleanse us in the precious blood of Jesus. “But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11).

The message is clear: claim the blood of Christ, be covered in His righteousness, surrender your sin-laden soul to Him—and, by His grace, flee the evils of Babylon. A time is coming when you will no longer have that choice.

Dear Jesus, cover me in Your righteousness and mold me into Your character that I might call others out of Babylon and into Your glorious kingdom.
