Prea Unafraid to Witness, Part 2

Daily Devotional Audio

After Prea attended an AFCOE to Go evangelistic training seminar with Amazing Facts, she was open to share her faith as God led. Another experience took place at a street fair where her church had a booth. “We hand out literature at the fair booth, and sometimes it just seems like nothing happens,” says Prea.

A couple walked by her booth and were interested in what they were sharing. They were obviously open to learn more, so “we invited them to church, and they came!” Prea learned that Laura’s husband was already a believer, so she didn’t know if Laura would be interested in studying. “AFCOE to Go taught us to tell people who are already students of the Bible that we need to practice giving Bible studies,” she says, “so that’s what I told Laura. She agreed to study with me and ended up being very studious.”

Laura, who was Jewish, took the studies very seriously and noticed points in the lessons that even Prea had not caught. Prea adds that she timed the studies to be completed just before the Landmarks of Prophecy series began. After attending those meetings, Laura was baptized and is now an active part of the church.

Prea shares an especially touching insight to the experience. “Laura has stage IV breast cancer. It touched me so deeply to see someone break down crying as she talked about Jesus and His love. Such love at a difficult time in her life really affected her, and it came out. It affected me, too.”

The first advice Prea has for those who are thinking about giving Bible studies is, “Don’t be afraid.” She encourages people to not be worried about difficult questions that come. “If people are hungry, they are not interested in if you are a real teacher or if you have all the answers. If they ask you a question you can’t answer, you can always say, ‘We’ll get to that in a later lesson,’ or you can say, ‘I don’t know, but I’ll find out.’”

Prea discovered, “There’s always someone out there, and the Lord will help you if you have a willing heart. I pray for God to be my voice, and I don’t have to be afraid.”

Reflect: What is your greatest fear about witnessing? Remember, your role is to be faithful and leave the results in God’s hands.
