Changing Lives in China - Fall 2020

Your support of Amazing Facts in the dark country of China is touching hearts and leading people to Christ. Thank you for bringing God’s precious truth to our friends in the land of the dragon! Here are some recent testimonies from people you’ve reached with your gifts.

The Great Debater

Wei was a tough-as-nails atheist. He spurned religion and liked to verbally wrestle with classmates who were Christians, trying to bring them into submission. But one day, your generous gifts, led by the power of the Holy Spirit, shone through the darkened corridors of the Sleeping Giant to reach even Wei.

At just 17 years old, Wei was exposed to Christianity through a fellow classmate, who acquainted him with the gospel. But as one who ate, slept, and breathed cold, hard facts, Wei disdained what he deemed as mere superstition. However, he found himself trailing his friend to his church on Sundays and sporadically opening the Bible. Six years later, he was baptized as a Christian.

Still, Wei wanted to know more, praying to God for wisdom. One day, while surfing the Internet, he stumbled upon something quite different. It was a film called Cosmic Conflict. When the film ended, he watched it again—and again. He had never seen or heard anything like it, not from his pastors, not from anyone in his church.

He noted the website, Qimiaozhenxiang, Amazing Facts in English. He liked the pastor from the film. Pastor Doug explained truth after truth simply using verses from the Bible. Wei began to cycle through the videos on the site, and he realized that his concept of God had been plain wrong.

“I often feel like I’ve just woken up from a dream after I’ve watched [one of Pastor Doug’s sermons],” Wei explained. “I believe that the God preached by Pastor Doug is the true, loving, righteous God recorded in the Bible!”

Today, Wei has joined a Sabbath-keeping church. “Now I know that there is real truth in me, which no man can take away.”

Through your faithful support, millions of searching souls like Wei can find everlasting truth.

Internet Evangelist

Chen was raised in a largely Christian family and grew up going to church on Sundays. As she got older, work began to get in the way of church until eventually she stopped attending altogether.

But it wasn’t until she began to experience some serious trials that she started to question the existence of God. Her co-worker urged her to return to church, to read the Bible, to pray, explaining to her about the grace of God.

Chen decided to try it. She started going back to church, no matter how busy she was. Every Sunday, she was there. And gradually, she began to feel better. Even in hardship, she found herself happy. It seemed as though her co-worker had been right. Some time later, Chen decided to be baptized.

But her journey did not end there. One day, while browsing on the Internet, Chen found a video called The Final Kingdom. It was actually a sermon by a pastor named Doug Batchelor. Chen watched the entire message. She liked Pastor Doug. When he talked about the truths of the Bible, the verses made sense. Chen searched for more of Pastor Doug’s messages online, but after watching several, she learned about the seventh-day Sabbath and was troubled. Her church worshipped on Sunday. Which was the truth?

She began to question other people about the Sabbath, but they each had a different answer, and none of them made much sense. Finally, she returned to Pastor Doug and contacted Amazing Facts online. The Amazing Facts Internet Evangelist answered all her questions biblically and clearly.

Chen was decided. She, along with her husband, searched for and found a nearby Sabbath-keeping church, and from then on, they began to keep the Bible’s seventh-day Sabbath. Last year, both Chen and her husband were baptized as Sabbath-keepers.

Thank you for your dedicated gifts, which brought a confused and lost soul not only to know Bible truth but also to point her husband to the same.

Depressed Evolutionist

Kong was sick of life. The world loved fame and wealth and popularity. If you didn’t have those, you were worthless—and Kong was worthless. Being on social media just made it worse. Other people always had more likes, more friends, more everything. Kong was a nothing. He was a nobody.

But this past March, Kong saw an advertisement on WeChat, a messaging platform in China, for Qimiaozhenxiang, the Chinese Amazing Facts website. Curious, he went to the site, downloaded four different videos, and watched all of them. They were on the most fascinating topics: death, the origin of evil, prophecy. His favorite video was entitled The Final Events of Bible Prophecy. From just those four videos alone, Kong realized that evolution was an impossible lie. There had to be a Creator; and this Creator was God, who loved him.

“I don’t know how to explain what is going on in my heart,” he said, “but I have been moved to accept Jesus Christ and want to become a Christian.”

Thank you for your part in helping Kong take his first steps down the pathway to the eternal city!

Unbelieving Christian

Heng grew up going to a Christian church with his mother and grandmother, but he really was no different than an unbeliever. He didn’t understand the Bible and simply went through the motions.

At 15, he diligently attended every meeting or service, but as work crowded into life, his faith was easily pushed out. All that remained of his religion was a prayer before mealtimes, again only a mere formality.

Years passed. Heng married and had a child. But his faith still lay dormant. Then, the pandemic hit, and life froze. Everything was shuttered, and many found themselves in a holding pattern behind closed doors.

As for Heng, while at home, he began again to have an interest in the Bible. He began to read the Word of God and also found Amazing Facts videos on the Qimiaozhenxiang website. Just a year ago, he recalled seeing one of Pastor Doug’s sermons online. It hadn’t caught his attention then—but now things were different.

As he watched the messages and studied Scripture, he took in what he was reading and applied it to himself. His faith, just a ritual for the majority of his life, was becoming personal and practical. “Pastor Doug spoke so clearly that I wasn’t confused like [with] the sermons I [had] heard before in the Sunday church,” Heng described. “After so many years, I finally have come to the point of knowing God, understanding His word, and truly following God’s word.”

Heng has since changed his diet, in following with the biblical principles of health, and is even in the process of searching for a job where he can observe the seventh-day Sabbath. As for his family, his wife also began watching Amazing Facts videos online. She has since accepted the gospel and is teaching their young child the same.

Your generous gifts have led an entire family to find truth in the midst of a dark world. For the first time in his life, Heng knows who he believes in—the God of the Bible.

A Factory of Believers

Mr. Wu and his wife became Christians only about a year ago and attended church regularly on Sundays. But when Mr. Wu found the Qimiaozhenxiang website, he was stunned. Watching Pastor Doug’s sermons online, he saw that the Bible clearly commanded people to worship God on Saturdays, the seventh-day Sabbath. From another of Pastor Doug’s messages, he learned that the Bible forbid people from eating unclean meat. His Sunday church had never taught him these truths! But Pastor Doug explained them easily with verses from the Word, so simply that even new Christians like him and his wife could understand.

Mr. Wu realized that if he was to follow God with all of his being, he needed a new church and a new pastor. He contacted Amazing Facts for assistance but came up against several obstacles. Ultimately, there was no Sabbath-keeping church nearby for him and his wife to attend.

But the gospel cannot be kept from a willing heart. Amazing Facts, as an alternative, sent Mr. Wu an entire set of Amazing Facts Bible Study Guides, translated into his own language. Now, Mr. Wu and his wife, who own a small company, daily watch videos from the Qimiaozhenxiang website while studying the lessons with their five employees—all who have accepted Jesus as their personal Savior.
