As Pastor Dennis sifted through the mail, a package stood out. It was from the medical clinic where he’d recently undergone cataract surgery. What could it be? Inside was a book—The Richest Caveman by Doug Batchelor. A note was attached: “Thank you for trusting us with your care! As a token of our appreciation, we hope you enjoy this book.” As a retired minister, Dennis happily read Pastor Doug’s conversion story. But he never imagined the simple testimony would lead to many startling discoveries—thanks to the generosity of Amazing Facts supporters like you!

Skipping Out

Dennis hadn’t always been a faithful Christian. Though his loving Roman Catholic family faithfully attended mass, by seventh grade, Dennis found a way to skip church. School was also a challenge. During his sophomore year, Dennis dropped out and got involved in drugs and alcohol.

As a young man, Dennis got a decent-paying job. But three months later, he was laid off along with a co-worker. “It’s a bummer, isn’t it?” Dennis remarked. “It’s okay,” his co-worker replied. “I’ve got a God who loves me.”

Dennis was overcome with curiosity. He’d noticed his co-worker’s consistent positivity, but this man had peace in the middle of losing his job! Through his friend’s influence, Dennis invited Jesus to be his Savior, and, overnight, God rescued him from his destructive habits.

As Dennis grew in faith, he felt called to ministry. Eventually, he pastored a Sunday-keeping church. But God had more for Dennis to learn. Following his cataract surgery, as he enjoyed Pastor Doug’s book, Dennis noticed the included postcard offering a book on prophecy. Intrigued, Dennis mailed it.

When The Great Controversy arrived, Dennis read it multiple times. “God opened my eyes to His truths about the Sabbath, the three angels’ messages, and more.” Dennis was surprised to find a Sabbath-keeping congregation in his small town, and he and his wife began attending services.

A Changed Life

During the COVID-19 crisis, Dennis and his wife watched Pastor Doug’s Revelation Now! prophecy series, which helped Dennis feel confident in the new things he was learning. Today, Dennis serves as an elder, while his wife is a deaconess. “We see God’s hand in all of this. Glory to His name!”
