14,000+ Literature Bags Distributed at National Gathering in Washington, D.C.
A team from Amazing Facts International distributed more than 14,000 truth-filled “Freedom 250” literature bags during the Rededicate 250 prayer event held in Washington, D.C. on May 17, 2026. People came from near and far to celebrate 250 years of American religious history and pray for the nation. They left carrying Bible-based resources designed to point them to Christ and present truth.
Each Freedom 250 bag contained an America in Prophecy magazine, The Fall and Rise of Jerusalem (a reprint of the classic Great Controversy), an America & the Ten Commandments booklet, and a Religious Freedom 250 card directing recipients to Amazing Facts’ online documentaries. Attendees eagerly accepted the materials, and many returned asking for additional bags to share with family and friends.
“It was an amazing mission trip,” said Danielle Overton, a donor relations representative who helped coordinate the outreach. “While we faced many obstacles that had to be overcome, obstacles are to be expected when doing God’s work. It was inspiring to see Him work in mighty ways by sending the right people at the right time for the right tasks.”
“Many people we met are hungering and thirsting for something more than what this world can offer,” she added. “We were able to reach not only those attending the Rededicate America event, but also a much wider range of people who, from what I could see, were sincerely desiring positive change in our world.”
Reaching Sincere Christians
The outreach was born when Pastor Doug Batchelor, president, heard about the Rededicate 250 prayer event. With thousands of Christians expected to attend, he saw an opportunity to place truth-filled literature in the hands of people already seeking a relationship with God.
“We didn’t go to make a political statement,” said Amanda Bauer, a media editor who also helped organize the outreach. “We just knew there would be many sincere Christians there hungering for the truth.”
God’s church has a sacred calling in these last days—to share truth with the world.
In preparation, Amazing Facts printed 25,000 Freedom 250 bags and drove 23 pallets of literature across the country. A team of 18 Amazing Facts employees and volunteers, along with members of the Granite Bay Hilltop Literature Evangelism Ministry, traveled to Washington, where they were joined by local church members and supporters from other ministries.
Together, they prayerfully assembled the bags. They also gathered on Sabbath, the day before Rededicate 250, for a special season of prayer and consecration near the White House.
God’s Interventions
Even before the Rededicate 250 outreach began, the team saw unexpected answers to prayer. Two 12-passenger rental vans were upgraded free of charge to 15-passenger vans, providing additional space for workers and supplies.
Another remarkable answer provided the team with a third location for distributing the bags. The team originally applied for only two booths at the event. But then an extra tablecloth came from the supplier. Amanda wondered whether God might want them to have a third booth, but she decided to pray about it. Two days later, the permit office called.
“Do you want three booths? We have three permits for you.”
The additional location allowed the team to reach many more people at the National Mall than originally planned. Amazing Facts booths were located at 7th & Madison, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial.
A Full Day of Ministry
On Sunday, May 17, the team rose at 2:00 AM to set up for the day of ministry. After a time of prayer, they headed to the National Mall, where they quickly saw God’s providence at work.
“God gave us favor with everyone,” Amanda said. “We parked right in front of the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. We were able to unload all our materials and deliver right to the location of our booths.”
Soon, thousands of people were streaming into the area. The Amazing Facts team worked quickly to provide a bag to each event attendee. They also gave literature bags to foreign tourists, military personnel, police officers, and families visiting Washington.
At the same time as the prayer gathering, George Washington University was holding commencement activities near the Washington Monument. Many graduates and family members received literature bags as they passed through the area.
Many people assumed the Amazing Facts team was officially connected with the Rededicate 250 event because of their shirts and bags. Rather than creating confusion, it opened doors for more ministry.
“People would come and ask us for another bag for their friend,” Amanda remembered.
Divine Appointments
Throughout the day, team members passed out bags, answered questions, and prayed with attendees.
“The Lord graciously opened unexpected doors before us,” said Amanda. “We were privileged to meet the CEO of the Freedom 250 event and place a bag directly into his hands. Testimonies have already begun to return—of individuals deeply impacted and divine appointments arranged by heaven.”
Danielle agreed. “One of the most meaningful aspects was seeing the seeds being planted, especially among young people who are searching for something more than this world can offer. While we may not immediately see the full results, there were many sincere conversations and clear signs that hearts were being touched. We trust that God used these interactions to spark interest, bring encouragement, and open doors for future spiritual growth.
A Lasting Impact
Despite long hours, little sleep, sunburn, and physical exhaustion, the team was reminded of our unique calling in the last days and encouraged by what God accomplished.
“As we walked among the multitudes upon the National Mall, we sensed anew the sacred calling entrusted to God’s last-day church—to lift up Christ before the world and prepare a people to stand in the day of the Lord,” said Amanda. “Seeds of truth were sown by the thousands, and we believe many souls will be gathered into the kingdom through this effort.”
By day’s end, more than 14,000 literature bags had been distributed. (Plans are in the works to distribute the remaining bags during the July 4th celebrations at the Capitol.) The bags even appeared in coverage by major news outlets, including NBC and Fox News, extending the outreach’s visibility far beyond those who attended in person.
Most importantly, thousands of people returned home carrying literature that will continue pointing them to Christ for years to come.
Will you join us in praying that God waters the seeds that were planted and reveals last-day truth to many people through the literature they received?
Deadlier than Ebola
The Ebola virus has cut short thousands of lives since its 1976 discovery. There have been roughly 40 recognized outbreaks to date, the most devastating being the 2014–2016 West Africa epidemic that infected 28,610 people and killed 11,308.
One woman describes her experience with the disease: “I battled for my life while watching patients die one by one next to me. Was it my turn? I could not accept that. The fever was weakening me. … Sleeping was so difficult because no position was good enough for my severely aching joints. There was a heaviness in my chest that made it hard to breathe.”
This woman was fortunate. She survived the Zaire Ebola strain, which can have a ninety percent fatality rate in untreated cases. Since then, a vaccine and therapeutic treatments have been developed that significantly increase survival rates for the Zaire strain.
The current Ebola outbreak began last month in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and then spread into Uganda. It was caused by the Bundibugyo virus, a rare Ebola species for which there is no licensed vaccine or specific treatment. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that as of June 6, there were 534 confirmed cases and 110 confirmed deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak “a public health emergency of international concern.”
How Bad Is Ebola?
Ebola symptoms usually appear eight to ten days after exposure. High fever, severe fatigue, headache, and joint pain are common at this stage. Many patients describe feeling as though they have been “hit by a truck” due to profound weakness. The early symptoms resemble those of other common illnesses, such as Malaria, Typhoid Fever, and Cholera. For this reason, Ebola patients are frequently misdiagnosed during the early stages of an outbreak, delaying lifesaving supportive treatment.
The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), as it’s called in the medical field, quickly advances, causing intense vomiting and diarrhea, accompanied by severe abdominal pain. EVD damages blood vessels, the immune system, and multiple organs as it spreads throughout the body. Those who succumb to the disease often die from shock, dehydration, and organ failure. Contrary to popular portrayal, dramatic bleeding from the nose and gums is less common. Yet that doesn’t make the disease any less terrifying. On average, people who die from Ebola only last ten days from the first symptom until their final breath.
With Ebola, a misdiagnosis and delayed treatment can turn deadly within a few days. However, prompt supportive care, such as IV fluids, electrolyte replacement, and supplemental oxygen, can save lives. The WHO reports: “The average Ebola disease case fatality rate is around 50%. Case fatality rates have varied from 25–90% in past outbreaks. Early intensive supportive care with rehydration and the treatment of symptoms improves survival.”
Left untreated, sin has a 100 percent mortality rate.
Deadlier than Ebola
An Ebola diagnosis can strike fear into the heart of even the most stalwart individuals. Yet the Bible has diagnosed humans with something far worse. The prophet Isaiah provides a graphic description of our condition: “The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises and putrefying sores; they have not been closed or bound up, or soothed with ointment” (Isaiah 1:5, 6).
The prophet’s words figuratively describe the toll that sin takes on our souls. Its corrupting influence permeates our entire being. And no one is excluded from this diagnosis. The apostle Paul explains, “There is none righteous, no, not one; … for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:10, 23).
What makes matters worse is that, left untreated, sin has a 100 percent mortality rate. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). And this isn’t just physical death but complete and permanent annihilation. Learn more about the wages of sin with this free resource.
Thankfully, the Bible doesn’t give us such a devastating diagnosis without offering a cure.
The Only Cure
We are told that Jesus came to “save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). He did this by taking the penalty for our sins upon Himself. “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. … the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:5, 6).
Although Christ “committed no sin” (1 Peter 2:22), He knew its undiluted consequences intimately. Under the weight of our sins, His “soul [was] exceedingly sorrowful, even to death” (Matthew 26:38). His suffering was so intense that “His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground” (Luke 22:44). Yet He was not deterred. He chose to die the death that we deserve.
The wages of sin is still death. However, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Jesus is often called the “Great Physician.” He offers the only remedy for sin, and it’s 100-percent effective. Everyone who entrusts their life to Him will be saved.
But as with Ebola treatment, time is of the essence. “You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (James 4:14).

Liberated by Truth!
An Amazing Fact: In November 2025, an Israeli man arriving in Tel Aviv from Thailand was caught smuggling 186 exotic animals in his luggage. Almost all of them were in one suitcase—and very much alive and wiggling. During the search, the agents found snakes, turtles, crabs, iguanas, scorpions, frogs, and other amphibians. The seized animals, valued at tens of thousands of dollars, were liberated and returned to Thailand.

“Pastor, there are so many weird beasts in Revelation. What do they mean?”
Erica was just 14 years old and already partying every weekend, but her curiosity had been piqued by The Final Events of Bible Prophecy—a truth-filled video you make available to searching hearts every day.
“I was hooked,” Erica says. “Even though I didn’t understand everything, something inside me woke up. I tucked those truths away in my heart.”
Unfortunately, Erica’s youth pastor knew as much about prophecy as she did. So as the weeks passed, her questions hung unanswered.
Disappointed, she drifted from the faith as many other teens do. Then a girl offered her methamphetamine in a school bathroom. She was instantly addicted. “It made me feel unstoppable,” she says.
Longing for Truth
There are millions of young people just like Erica searching for truth, asking honest questions—but they have no one to guide them into the light of God’s Word. And when the Lord’s truth is absent, Satan enters that vacuum to trap them in darkness, smuggling them away from the Scriptures.
All over the world, people are seeing the chaos of war and natural disasters and are longing for something solid they can stake their lives on. Like Erica, they may catch a fleeting glimpse of Bible truth, but without teaching that leads them into an obedient relationship with Jesus, Satan seizes the opportunity to destroy.
That’s why God has entrusted you and me with the full truth of His Word—to rescue the ones drowning in darkness by guiding them to His light.
Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). That truth is a treasure beyond measure. It is not meant to be hidden or hoarded by His people. The wealth of God’s Word must be shared far and wide, while we still have time to proclaim the three angels’ messages.
That’s why when you give today, you can know that you will again place that treasure into the hands of someone else who is searching—someone like Erica—at a most unexpected time. Let me tell you the rest of her story …
His Perfect Timing
Erica and her friend Samantha had just used meth together. Suddenly, out of the blue, Samantha pulled out a stack of colorful booklets. “I have some studies on Revelation. Wanna see them?”
Seventeen-year-old Erica grabbed for the stack, but Samantha yanked them away. “You can’t touch these,” she snapped, hugging the papers to her chest like a sacred treasure. “They’re mine!”

Even so, Samantha used those guides to reveal the truth to Erica, page by page. “With wide eyes and dilated pupils, we talked about God,” Erica remembers. “I learned about the Sabbath, the afterlife, the Second Coming—and how it wouldn’t be a secret. The lessons even broke down the beasts of Revelation in a way I could understand. Conviction washed over me. God had met me right there, in the most unlikely place, at the most unlikely time. He knew my heart was searching.”
Friend, the Holy Spirit showed up that night through the Amazing Facts Study Guides to answer the deepest questions of her heart. And you were His willing co-laborer by making the truths in them available the very moment they were needed!
You helped those two young women meet the One who could set them free. And together, the girls chose to give up drugs and take care of their health. They even started keeping the Sabbath.
Friend, think about that moment. In a place of brokenness, in the middle of addiction, God’s life-changing truth broke through!
That is what your gift this month will do again and again. You will carry light into the dark places and introduce people to Jesus—often at the exact moment they are ready to receive Him.
The Devil Fights Back
For months, all seemed to be going well for Erica. Then the devil tried to smuggle her away again …
Erica explains, “My friends and I pulled up to a house. I felt a chill because I knew drugs were inside. I stayed in the car at first, but eventually, they coaxed me in. And there it was again. Meth was passed to me. In a moment of weakness, I gave in.”
Despite that mistake, God wasn’t finished with Erica. You see, she started spending time with Fidel, a young man she met at that very house. What followed shows how God pursues us to the ends of the earth …
One day, Fidel and Erica were sitting in his room using meth when he suddenly mentioned the Bible. “My parents are Sabbath-keepers,” he said bluntly. “That’s how I was raised.”
Erica lit up. “I know about that!” she told him. “My friend once showed me everything from the Bible.” The words of life you had presented to Erica through the Amazing Facts Study Guides instantly resurfaced in a big way!
Fidel asked if Erica wanted to go to a Sabbath-keeping church. “Yes!” she practically shouted. She explains today, “I needed help. I wanted out. The Bible says that iron sharpens iron, and that day God gave me a companion in the battle.”
Praise God, Erica and Fidel got clean together. They fell in love, got married, and were baptized. They even have kids now. There are still ups and downs, but they stay committed to the truth through it all.
Friend, do you see what God did? He watered the seeds of truth you so lovingly planted in Erica’s heart, and it brought forth new life and transformation!
From Meth to Missionary
Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field” (Matthew 13:44).
When someone discovers that treasure, everything changes. Erica was able to find it because you helped put it within reach.
But today, there are billions more who have not yet uncovered that treasure. For them, truth is still buried—hidden beneath confusion, tradition, and deception. That is why your gift matters so much right now.
Time is short. Jesus is coming soon. Will we hoard God’s Word for ourselves? Or give freely so people can grow in Christ?
God didn’t give up on Erica—and today, she is sharing the truth that once saved her. “I use the Amazing Facts Study Guides to give Bible studies any chance I get because I believe in them so much.”
In 2024, Erica even traveled to New York to be a Bible worker during our global Prophecy Odyssey series. After one of the evening meetings, she headed to the subway to get back to her hotel. A drunk man approached her aggressively.

“I wasn’t scared of him,” she remembers. Instead, she interceded silently for the hurting man. She said nothing to him, but then, just as they were boarding the train, he looked at her and said, “Thank you!”
“The Holy Spirit must have told him I was praying,” she says.
This is what happens when you give generously, unconditionally, to God’s work. He transforms addicts into missionaries. The lost into prayer warriors.
Because you gave, Erica’s life was changed. Now I’m asking you to do it again. Your gift right now will help:
- Place Bible truth into searching hands through every means possible
- Provide young people with clear answers from Scripture
- Reach people at the exact moment they are ready
- Help turn seekers into disciples—and disciples into witnesses
Please don’t wait. When God prompts us to act, it is because someone, somewhere, is ready to receive truth into their heart. Your gift of $25 could place 61 pieces of literature into people’s hands, and a caring gift of $100 could help 244 people know Christ and be transformed.
As my thanks for your gift this month, I will send you my message, “Deliverance From Temptation and Evil,” which I pray will help you to be an overcomer in your walk with Christ, like Erica is today. And be sure to share it with a loved one!
And please include your prayer requests on the enclosed reply card. Our staff really does pray over them each week, and it is our privilege to lift you before the Lord.
Friend, thank you for sharing the greatest treasure on Earth through your compassionate giving!
Sharing the everlasting wealth of God’s Word,
Pastor Doug Batchelor
President, Amazing Facts International
P.S. Erica’s life was changed because someone like you gave. Today, more people, young and old, are asking the same questions she once asked but are heading down a dangerous path because they can’t find truth-revealing answers. Your gift can place that precious last-day truth—through Bible lessons, streaming, and broadcasts—in their hands before it’s too late. Please give today!
Coming Soon: The Magnificent Kingdom
An Amazing Fact: Surveys reveal that about 75 percent of people in North America believe in heaven, but only about 23 percent believe in hell. Perhaps even more surprising, among those who believe in heaven, nearly 90 percent believe they’re going there. These statistics tell us something important about the human heart …
*****
Deep down, people sense that life has to lead to something better than the suffering and death we experience every day on this sin-sick planet. There is a longing inside us for a world that is healthy, joyful, and permanent.
Well, the Bible explains why: God “has put eternity in their hearts” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
But while many people believe in heaven, there is much confusion about what it actually is.
Of course, popular culture typically mocks the idea of a Christian heaven—picturing people as ethereal beings with harps floating on puffy clouds or winged babies drifting through the sky. Still others think heaven is nothing more than a poetic idea meant to comfort people in difficult times.
The Bible, however, describes something far more concrete and wonderful. The word “heaven” appears hundreds of times, but when you focus specifically on the place where God dwells and where the redeemed will live, there are still well over a hundred passages.
Heaven is not imaginary. It is not merely symbolic. The Bible writers treat it as a real kingdom prepared by a real Savior for real people who love Him.
Jesus said plainly, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2). Christ didn’t say He was preparing some vague spiritual experience. He said He was preparing a place. That means heaven is tangible. And if Jesus promised it, we can be certain it is true.
So let’s learn more about it …
A Glimpse of Heaven on Earth
In the Bible, one of the closest pictures of heaven is found during the reign of King Solomon. If you were to choose the moment when Israel experienced its greatest earthly glory, it would likely be during Solomon’s early years as king.
It was like a tiny moment of heaven on Earth.
The temple had just been built. Remember, God had told David that he could not build it because he had been a man of war, but Solomon, a name related to the word shalom, meaning peace, was allowed to complete it during a time of peace (1 Chronicles 22:8, 9).
Jerusalem was also flourishing with wealth and beauty. The Bible tells us that gold was everywhere, and silver became so plentiful that it was “accounted as nothing” (1 Kings 10:21). Israel enjoyed peace on every border, and people from distant nations came to learn about the God of heaven.
Among them was the famous Queen of Sheba. She traveled from a far country with a huge caravan loaded with spices, gold, and precious stones. Of course, she did not come merely to admire the beauty. She also wanted to discover the source of Solomon’s wisdom.
Still, the Bible says that when she saw the temple, the palace, and the orderly service of Solomon’s kingdom, “there was no more spirit in her” (1 Kings 10:5). In other words, she was left breathless! Everything she had heard about Solomon was impressive, but the reality was far greater.
She finally exclaimed, “Indeed the half was not told me” (1 Kings 10:7). That reminds me of 1 Corinthians 2:9: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
A City Prepared by God
The Bible often describes heaven as a city. Indeed, it tells us plainly that God “has prepared a city for them” (Hebrews 11:16).
That can be jarring, because when we think about cities, we imagine traffic, noise, crime, worldliness, and pollution. We see it clearly—when large numbers of selfish people gather in one place, there will be endless problems. The challenge with cities isn’t the planning or architecture; it’s sin!
In heaven, there will be no greed, no violence, and no injustice. Imagine a city where every citizen loves God supremely and loves their neighbor as themselves. That is the kind of city that John saw while in vision: “I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God” (Revelation 21:2).
Notice he calls it New Jerusalem. It means “city of peace” (again, from shalom). Jerusalem was the center of worship for God’s people. It was where the temple was, the place where the presence of God was symbolically revealed. The New Jerusalem represents the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan—a place where peace will finally reign. After thousands of years of conflict and suffering, God’s redeemed people will live in a true “city of peace,” where sin and sorrow will never enter again.
The Glorious City
Scripture provides several fascinating details about this city.
For one, Revelation says the city measures “twelve thousand furlongs” in length, width, and height (Revelation 21:16). In modern terms, that’s about 1,500 miles in perimeter, or about 375 miles on each side. That’s bigger than New Mexico! And because the city is described as a cube—with equal length, width, and height—it may rise 375 miles high. Whatever the exact dimensions, the message is clear: God’s kingdom will be vast, and there will be plenty of room for all who accept Christ’s invitation.
John also writes that this city has “a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates” (v. 12). Notice that the number twelve appears repeatedly in the description—twelve gates, twelve foundations, and the names of the twelve apostles written on them.
This is not accidental. Throughout Scripture, the number twelve is connected with God’s people and His kingdom. In the Old Testament, God built the nation of Israel around twelve tribes, the descendants of Jacob’s sons. In the New Testament, Jesus chose twelve apostles to represent the foundation of His church. The New Jerusalem reflects that same divine order. The city represents the complete family of God—the redeemed from every generation who have followed Him.
Some Bible students note that twelve divides evenly in many ways—by two, three, four, and six—making it an ideal number for construction and organization. God is a Creator of order, not confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). The repeated use of twelve in the New Jerusalem reminds us that heaven will be a place of perfect structure, balance, and unity among God’s people.
The Bible reveals that each gate is made of a single pearl: “The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl” (Revelation 21:21). A pearl is created when a tiny grain of sand or another irritant enters an oyster. The oyster responds by covering that irritation with layers of a beautiful substance until, over time, it becomes a pearl.
In a sense, a pearl is born out of suffering.
Likewise, sin entered this world like a painful irritation in God’s perfect creation. But through the sacrifice of Christ, that tragedy is being transformed into something glorious. Just as the oyster covers the irritation and produces a pearl, Jesus covers our sin and produces redemption.
It is fitting, then, that the gates of the New Jerusalem are made of pearl. Every person who enters that city will do so because of the sacrifice of Christ. The gates themselves will stand forever as a reminder that heaven is possible only because Jesus paid the price for our salvation.
I also love this detail: “The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass” (v. 21). In this world, men fight wars over gold. They hide it in vaults. But in heaven, God uses pure gold as paving material. That should remind us that the things we treasure most on Earth are not nearly as valuable as we might believe.
The River and the Tree of Life
Flowing through the New Jerusalem is something even more beautiful than golden streets: “He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb” (Revelation 22:1).
All life depends on water. Without it, nothing survives. In the earth made new, the source of life will be this magnificent river flowing from God’s throne. No wonder Jesus calls Himself the water of life—a source of life-giving spiritual hydration (John 4:14).
Along the banks of this mighty river grows the tree of life. “On either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month” (Revelation 22:2). Again, notice the number twelve!
This is the same tree Adam and Eve were forbidden to eat from after sin entered the world. Humanity was driven from Eden so they would not eat from the tree of life and live forever in sin (Genesis 3:22–24). But the story comes full circle in Revelation. The redeemed are restored to the garden and once again receive access to the tree of life. “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city” (Revelation 22:14).
Why is one tree accessible from both sides of the river? The picture John describes seems to be a marvelous tree that spreads across the riverbank, arching over the water so that its branches extend to both sides. I believe this is meant to convey that the tree will be accessible to everyone in God’s kingdom. No one will be excluded from the gift of eternal life.
John also says, “The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2). This does not mean people will become sick in heaven. Rather, it symbolizes the complete restoration of humanity. The divisions that now separate nations—race, language, politics, and culture—will be healed forever. The redeemed from every nation will be one family under God.
A World Without Suffering
One of the most comforting promises about heaven appears in Revelation 21:4: “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.”
Think about the sorrow that fills our world today—hospital rooms, funerals, broken relationships, and painful memories. The Bible says those things will not exist in God’s kingdom.
Isaiah describes it in vivid language: “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer” (Isaiah 35:5, 6).
Those who have never seen will behold the beauty of God’s creation. Those who could not hear will listen to the songs of angels. Those who were crippled will run and leap with joy.
Another promise declares, “The inhabitant will not say, ‘I am sick’” (Isaiah 33:24). Imagine a world with no disease, no hospitals, and no pain. The Bible calls heaven a place where these “former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4).
This restoration will also include the animal kingdom. Isaiah paints a remarkable picture of harmony among creatures that today are enemies: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, … and a little child shall lead them” (Isaiah 11:6).
The prophet continues by saying that even the lion will eat straw like the ox (v. 7). The violence and fear that dominate nature today will disappear when God restores the earth to its original condition. Nothing will hurt or destroy in God’s kingdom (v. 9).
Glorified Bodies
Sometimes people imagine heaven as a ghostlike existence where we drift around without real bodies, but the Bible teaches something very different.
When Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to His disciples and invited them to touch Him. He said, “A spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have” (Luke 24:39). Christ even ate food with them to demonstrate that He was truly tangible. The apostle Paul explains that believers will receive a body like Christ’s resurrected body. “The Lord Jesus Christ … will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body” (Philippians 3:20, 21).
In heaven, we will not be disembodied spirits. We will live, eat, walk, talk, and explore the wonders of God’s creation in perfect, immortal bodies.
People often wonder whether we will recognize our loved ones in heaven with brand-new bodies. The Bible strongly suggests that we will. Paul writes, “Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).
Heaven will not diminish our understanding; it will enhance our discernment. The redeemed will have clearer minds and deeper insight than ever before. Reunion with family and friends who love Christ will be one of the greatest joys of eternity.
The Greatest Joy of Heaven
Golden streets, the river of life, and perfect health are wonderful promises. Yet the greatest blessing of heaven is even more profound.
Revelation declares, “God Himself will be with them and be their God” (21:3).
For thousands of years, sin has separated humanity from the direct presence of God. But in the new earth, that separation will be gone forever. The redeemed will see their Creator face to face and dwell in His presence. “In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
The Bible also gives a solemn promise. Revelation says that nothing sinful will enter the city: “There shall by no means enter it anything that defiles” (Revelation 21:27). Sin is what brought suffering into the universe. God would never allow it to rise again.
That is why Jesus came to this world—to forgive sin and transform lives. When a person accepts Christ, the Bible says they become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). God begins preparing them for the kingdom He has promised.
Jesus summarized the secret of life in one simple instruction: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). When we make God’s kingdom our first priority, everything else falls into its proper place.
A Glorious Finale
The Bible’s story begins in a beautiful garden, where happy humans listened to an evil serpent and lost access to the tree of life. It ends with the serpent destroyed and paradise restored, where the redeemed once again eat from that tree and live forever.
In between those two scenes stands the cross of Christ, where Jesus gave His life so we could enter that eternal kingdom.
The good news is that God wants every one of us to be there. Heaven is not reserved for an elite few. It is offered to anyone, to whosoever will trust Christ and follow Him. Will you accept that heavenly invitation? When you finally walk through those gates of pearl and stand inside the city of God, you may look around in wonder and say the same words the Queen of Sheba once spoke: “The half was not told me.”

210 Volunteers Serve in Belize on Amazing Facts Mission Trip
Something amazing happens when 210 volunteers descend on a small country for a mission trip.
“It is transformational for the whole country,” says Pastor Jëan Ross, vice president of evangelism at Amazing Facts International. “When 210 show up just to bless people, it gets everyone—from the common people to government officials—talking about it.”
That’s what happened in Belize during Amazing Facts’ recent mission trip.
A Country in Need
Belize is a tropical paradise, yet over half of its 400,000 inhabitants subsist below the poverty line, especially in rural areas. Even in Belize City, poverty is common. That’s why Amazing Facts and Granite Bay Hilltop Church organized a mission trip to the city from April 12–19, 2026. The team consisted of 210 local and online church members, as well as Amazing Facts partners and employees. Some came from as far away as Switzerland and Italy.
When 210 people show up just to bless others, it can transform a whole country.
The team provided free medical and dental services, built and painted churches and schools, hosted two vacation Bible schools, and trained local church leaders. The week ended with a Brotherhood Sabbath, the largest gathering of Sabbath-keepers ever in the small country.
Medical & Dental Clinic Serves Many
The medical and dental team provided free services to 1,374 patients over four days at the Belize Civic Center, which was made available free of charge by the local government. The Belize Adventist Mission was also heavily involved and facilitated the necessary permits. Medications were supplied in partnership with Loma Luz Adventist Hospital, helping reduce costs and expand care.
Patients came as early as 2:00 AM to wait for the free services, which included dentistry, eye care, pharmacy services, women’s health, emergency medicine, and a prayer station. Many expressed their deep gratitude for the help they received.
For many volunteers, their ministry went far beyond physical care. One man came for dental work; he had a hole in his tooth that he wanted fixed. But the ache in his heart was what really bothered him. His 42-year-old son had died not long ago from issues with alcohol. The dental team fixed his tooth, but they also took time to listen to his sorrow and pray with him.
The local television station even did a broadcast about the program.
Construction Team Builds, Paints
Another group of nearly 60 volunteers did construction and remodeling work. In just three days, they raised the walls of a church whose congregation had spent ten years raising money just to lay a foundation. Granite Bay Hilltop Church has also committed to providing the remaining funds needed so local members can complete the church structure by the end of the year.
The team also painted and repaired two schools and a church. One of the schools had been condemned but can now continue to provide children with a biblical education.
Vacation Bible Schools Minister to Children
Language barriers can make hosting a vacation Bible school on a mission trip challenging. But English is Belize’s primary language, so running a VBS was much easier this time. The Amazing Facts’ team hosted programs at two Sabbath-keeping schools—one for a group of about 250 students, and another for 25 kids. About 80 percent of the students were not Sabbath-keepers.
“We had the cutest group of people to minister to,” says Kate Moreland, VBS coordinator. “The kids loved it. They were all in! And it helped them realize they were part of a global church family.”
“It was amazing to see how the simple things we did made such a huge impact on the kids,” added Joshua Droze, who served on the VBS team with his wife Inna.
Church Leadership Training
Sabbath-keepers in Belize often feel alone. About 10 percent of the population claim to be Sabbath-keepers, but only about a quarter of those are regular church attenders.
However, a growing number of Belizeans are hearing the three angels’ messages through a radio station hosted by a local Sabbath-keeping family. The station broadcasts Amazing Facts programs and other truth-filled sermons through Belize, Guatemala, and southern Mexico. Many are responding to the messages and walking into Sabbath-keeping churches ready to become members.
To help the local church, Amazing Facts’ evangelism team spent two days teaching church leaders, pastors, and elders how to lead and do evangelism more effectively.
“It was basic stuff that we were teaching,” says Pastor Doug Batchelor, president, “but it was new to them and very helpful. They didn’t realize there were answers to many of the problems they were facing. It was very encouraging to them to know they are not alone.”
Brotherhood Sabbath Draws Thousands
At the end of a busy week of ministry, the Amazing Facts mission trip team joined local Sabbath-keepers at the Belize Civic Center for a “Brotherhood Sabbath.” The program included Sabbath school with the Amazing Facts team, sermons by Pastor Doug, and music.
“The arena was full,” says Pastor Doug. “There were over 4,000 people there. It was the largest gathering of Sabbath-keepers ever in Belize.”

Healthspan Science: Living Longer Means Living Biblically
Longevity was the biggest wellness buzzword of 2025 and will continue to dominate in 2026, according to experts. But the meaning of the word is shifting from looking younger and living longer to healthspan—the number of years a person lives with genuine strength, mobility, mental clarity, and independence.
The pursuit of youth is, of course, nothing new. Ponce de León searched for the legendary Fountain of Youth in the early 1500s, and ancient Egyptians applied oils and resins to preserve their skin. Today, that mythological obsession has grown into a booming industry. The global anti-aging market was valued at nearly $69 billion in 2024.
However, a 2026 report noted a growing dissatisfaction with appearance-based anti-aging solutions. And for good reason. A Mayo Clinic study found that the U.S. records the world’s highest average gap between lifespan and healthspan, with Americans living an average of 12.4 years burdened by disability and chronic illness. Chronic disease now drives 90 percent of U.S. healthcare costs, yet half of chronic conditions are preventable.
Living better, not just longer, is now the primary concern in longevity. Remarkably, the lifestyle habits linked to an extended healthspan are ones God has long counseled in Scripture.
Let’s take a closer look.
Exercising Faithful Stewardship
The Bible states that as soon as God created Adam, “the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it” (Genesis 2:15). Even before sin, the value of physical labor was part of God’s design. Furthermore, the Sabbath commandment highlights the fundamental role of physical movement: “six days you shall labor” (Exodus 20:9).
Yet, modern living has become largely sedentary, which, unsurprisingly, has resulted in a massive increase in chronic illnesses. Physical inactivity is now classified as an actual cause of 40 chronic diseases and premature death. Regular movement, by contrast, delays the onset of those same conditions and sustains quality of life well into old age. In addition, a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that consistent exercise improves general cognition, memory, and executive function.
Exercise, then, is essential to expressing trust in the Lord. By faithfully stewarding our bodies, we are better positioned to pray with focus and serve without limitation. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).
Nourishing Counsel
Just as with exercise, God’s instruction on diet was given as soon as Adam and Eve were created: “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food” (Genesis 1:29). After sin, He added “the herb of the field” (Genesis 3:18).
The book of Daniel provides insight into the value of proper nutrition. When assigned the king’s rich diet in Babylon, Daniel and his friends declined and requested vegetables and water instead (Daniel 1:12). After ten days, they were found both physically healthier and mentally sharper than those eating the royal food (Daniel 1:15).
Today, science is confirming that adherence to whole-plant foods is associated with lower mortality, reduced rates of chronic disease, and more years of healthy, independent living. Epidemiological studies consistently find lower mortality rates among adults who follow plant-based diets, and research specifically links this dietary pattern to better memory, executive function, and slower cognitive aging.
Scripture urges, “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Obeying is not just an expression of faith, but a prescription for a healthier, longer life.
The lifestyle habits linked to an extended healthspan are ones God has long counseled in Scripture.
Rest and Restoration
Scripture presents sleep as a gift from God: “He gives His beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:2). For anxiety, the Word also offers clear advice: “Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). During His life, Jesus gave us a perfect demonstration of both. When a fierce storm struck the Sea of Galilee, He was at peace and asleep in the stern of the boat, because He trusted His Father (Mark 4:38). Research has now identified both sleep and stress management as two of the most powerful factors linked to a longer healthspan.
A 2025 analysis of all 3,143 U.S. counties found that insufficient sleep was a stronger predictor of reduced life expectancy than diet, physical inactivity, or loneliness, ranking second only to smoking. Likewise, a broad body of research has confirmed that chronic stress accelerates biological aging and directly shortens healthspan by triggering early onset of the chronic conditions that cause the most disability in later life.
When we keep a healthy sleep routine, we honor God. Additionally, the Lord urges us to be anxious for nothing, and every week, the Sabbath invites us to rest in our Creator. By doing so, we not only find joy in the present, but we also invest in a longer, healthier future.
Divine Instruction
The healthspan conversation is still unfolding, and diet, movement, sleep, and stress are only part of the picture. Research is also exploring the value of strong community involvement, a clear purpose in life, and abstaining from mind-altering substances as equally significant contributors to a longer, healthier life. The Bible has already addressed all three.
We are urged to gather regularly with fellow believers and to serve others as Christ did. Our purpose is to glorify God in all that we do and to share the good news. Scripture is also clear that substances like alcohol have destructive repercussions, a warning that modern research on addiction and accelerated aging only reinforces.
Today, healthspan science serves as proof that we follow a God who has loved us with an everlasting love and already provided us with all the counsel we need to prosper. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6).

Growing in Christ: Amazing Facts’ New Discipleship Lessons
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Amazing Facts International is pleased to announce that its newest study guide series, “Growing in Christ,” is now available through the Bible School and bookstore. These twelve new lessons reveal how to become a sanctified citizen of God’s kingdom and how Christians can build their character through a personal connection with Christ.
Many Christians struggle with unhealthy relationships, addictions, old habits, and poor choices. But the Bible makes it clear that none need be a slave to sin. Through Christ, each believer can be an overcomer and display a Christ-like character in these last days.
The “Growing in Christ” series is a natural extension of the 27 Amazing Facts Study Guides. Instead of focusing on prophecy and doctrine, “Growing in Christ” presents the Bible’s principles for godly living in clear, simple language. Each lesson will help students become disciples of Christ who reveal His character in their work, entertainment, witnessing, relationships, and every other aspect of life.
It’s time to become a citizen of God’s kingdom!
An Important Addition
First published in 1966 as “Information Folders,” the Amazing Facts Study Guides have stood the test of time. Hundreds of thousands of Bible students have become members of the remnant church through studying the lessons.
Known for making the truth simple, the Study Guides focus on the Bible’s major teachings and prophecies, but they do not delve deeply into the practical side of living and growing as a new Christian. Tammey Steenson, a former Bible School director, also recognized that over a quarter of the Bible School’s students are incarcerated and need specific biblical guidance on what it means to live as a Christian.
That realization led to the development of the “Growing in Christ” series. Created with much prayer, the new lessons show students how to develop and maintain a personal relationship with Jesus so that they can become mature, balanced Christians.
Each lesson begins with a true story of an individual whose life was transformed through meeting Jesus and learning to follow Him in the details of life. They then delve into what the Bible teaches on everyday topics, such as sharing your faith and overcoming addiction. Intensely practical, the lessons help students learn how to walk with God at work, at home, at church, and at play.
The new lessons cover the following topics:
- The King and the Kingdom: The operating principles of God’s kingdom vs. Satan’s kingdom
- Growing in Grace: How to have victory over sin in daily life
- In the Lord’s Army: Putting on the Lord’s armor and living as a Christian soldier
- Prayer: Communion with God made simple
- Renewing Your Mind: Cooperating with God for transformed thoughts and emotions
- Addictions and You: God’s principles for freedom from addiction in all forms
- Godly Relationships: How to love and care for the people who matter most
- Principles for Work: Practical principles for thriving in any work situation
- The Privilege of Stewardship: Being a steward of God’s resources includes far more than tithing
- The Family of God: Discover the blessing of the church family for spiritual growth
- Go Light Your World: How to share your faith in a winsome way
- The Holy Spirit: The third person of the Godhead and His role in your transformation
Who Should Do These Lessons?
Cathy Bauer, Bible School director, says, “The new lessons are for anyone who wants to grow in their walk with God. They will help you fall in love with Jesus—and when you do, the Bible prophecies come to life. It’s only in a personal relationship with Christ that we see the true value of the Bible’s doctrines.”
The studies are ideal for personal study or group lessons. They are especially appropriate for new believers who are just learning what it means to be a Christian—but also for longtime Christians who are longing for a deeper walk with God
- The “Growing in Christ” lessons can be completed through the Bible School either before or after completion of the 27 Study Guides.
- They are also available for purchase through the Amazing Facts bookstore at www.afbookstore.com or by calling 800-538–7275.
Trapped With a Deadly Virus
On April 1, 2026, the Dutch-flagged luxury cruise ship MV Hondius left the port at Ushuaia in Argentina and headed for Antarctica before turning north. Ten days later, a passenger, a Dutchman who had fallen ill several days previously, died from respiratory distress.
On April 24, when the ship docked at St. Helena, the deceased man’s wife—who was already ill—flew to South Africa. Two days later, after collapsing in an airport, she also died.
Meanwhile, back on the ship, another passenger became ill and was evacuated to South Africa, where he tested positive for hantavirus, a potentially fatal disease that comes from exposure to infected mice and rats. At that point, authorities must have felt puzzled. Although at least one strain of hantavirus can spread from person to person, it usually occurs only through close contact. The married couple being infected made some sense, but another person with the virus? That was unusual, but perhaps that would be the end of the outbreak.
The next day, however, another passenger was showing symptoms of the virus. She died on May 2. Hantavirus was somehow spreading among the passengers. The following day, the ship anchored at Cape Verde. The ship’s doctor had become infected as well, and a passenger who happened to be a physician took over his role on the ship.
So far, eight people had fallen ill. Some of them had been evacuated to hospitals. Passengers on the ship were now quarantined, required to spend most of their time isolated in their cabins. Whenever they emerged, they wore masks and kept their distance from each other. Docking at a port was out of the question. They were trapped, wondering whether they might be the next to succumb to the virus.
On May 7, the MV Hondius headed for the Canary Islands, having obtained permission from the Spanish government to dock there. However, authorities on the islands were reluctant to have passengers disembark there, potentially exposing their citizens to risk.
Containing the Contagion
Meanwhile, authorities began tracking down the dozens of passengers who had disembarked in multiple countries before the virus was identified. In addition, they needed to begin the difficult task of tracing everyone who may have come into close contact with any of the passengers. Authorities still believe the risk to the general public is low.
Hantavirus is classified as a relatively rare illness, yet it sickens thousands of people worldwide each year. According to the CDC, there were only 890 cases in the United States from 1993 to 2023; the vast majority occurred west of the Mississippi River. However, the strains of virus found in the Americas, which are “New World” hantaviruses, tend to cause pulmonary syndrome, a respiratory disease that can be deadly. In fact, the CDC reports that 38 percent of people who develop respiratory symptoms from hantavirus may die.
Of course, this isn’t the first time contagions have spread on a cruise ship. It happens frequently. For instance, this year alone, significant outbreaks have occurred on four cruise ships. In two cases, passengers and crew were infected with norovirus, a common cause of food-borne illness. On the other ships, E. Coli was to blame for illnesses. These diseases, though inconvenient for travelers, are not usually deadly.
The Andes variety of hantavirus, which affected travelers on the MV Hondius, can be transmitted person-to-person through close contact, especially within a household. But because this particular cruise ship is relatively small, the virus managed to spread among voyagers in the crowded common areas.
A Worse Predicament
Imagine being trapped on a ship, knowing that a potentially deadly virus is spreading. It’s a nightmare scenario that could lead to some pretty desperate thoughts.
Well, in a sense, we are all in a similar predicament—only worse. We are trapped on the cruise ship Earth, which has been infected with the deadly disease called sin. And without intervention, the survival rate for this contagion is zero percent.
We are trapped on the cruise ship Earth, which has been infected with the deadly disease called sin.
Scripture states that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23) and that “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23). We have all been infected with this deadly virus. That means we are doomed. This isn’t something anyone can survive without outside help. We are in a desperate situation. We need to be rescued!
Thankfully, there is a Rescuer.
“Christ also suffered for us,” and “bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:21, 24). Because He was willing to die for us, we have hope. “We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
Despite the deadly sin problem, we don’t have to be lost. Because He loves and cares for us, God has provided a way out. He wants not only to rescue us but also to provide an abundant life for us here and now—and a glorious home with Him for eternity.

Filling the Void
2nd Quarter 2026
Dear friend,
Nothing in this sin-sick world can satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart—but Jesus can! “For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:9).
What a blessing you have been! Your compassionate gifts and prayers are reaching across the world, helping precious souls discover essential Bible truth and experience the Savior’s life-changing love. Because of you, people like Beni—whose story I’m honored to share—are finding hope they never thought possible. I pray you’ll be encouraged as you read this latest update about the eternal difference your generosity is making in these perilous times.
With deep gratitude,
Pastor Doug Batchelor
President, Amazing Facts International

Filling the Void

The emptiness Beni felt inside at 19 was almost more than he could handle.
“I could not pinpoint exactly where the void was,” he shares, “or how to fill it in a meaningful way.” Nothing in his life—school, money, food, sports—could satisfy him for long, and he considered suicide often.
By his early thirties, it seemed Beni had everything he needed to make him happy—a beautiful wife, two precious sons, a good job—yet that same void followed him, unfulfilled by anything this world offered him.
But thanks to your loving gifts, that all changed for Beni through an Amazing Facts resource you helped provide!
A New Perspective
One day, Beni’s wife shared with him a sermon on TV called “Why So Many Denominations?”

“It may have been the first sermon I ever watched,” Beni says. Yet, he found it interesting only from a secular perspective.
A few months later, his wife saw an advertisement for an Amazing Facts prophecy series. Despite misgivings about religious things, Beni watched it with her.
“I was blown away by what Pastor Doug shared,” he shares. “I wondered how the Bible could record events before they came to pass.” He had viewed the Bible as a book of fables, but this newfound information challenged his beliefs.
Words of Life

After purchasing a Bible from Amazing Facts, Beni offered a heartfelt petition to God: “If You’re real, reveal Yourself in a clear way, and I will give myself to You fully.”
Beni started reading Genesis 1. “For the first time, the Bible’s words were full of life,” he explains, “no longer dead words as I experienced as a child.”
When Beni read about man’s original diet, he felt convicted to adopt a plant-based diet. “After sharing this with my wife,” he relates, “she almost fell off the chair. She said, ‘What are you going to eat? … You’re going to die.’ I told her God would help me, and that’s exactly what He did.”
From that point, God showed the couple truth after truth. Despite opposition from other family members, Beni, his wife, and his brother were baptized into a Sabbath-keeping church.
God used you and your caring gifts to help them. “Amazing Facts provided me resources I would never have found,” Beni says. Thank you for supplying the faith-building materials that help transform the lives of new believers like Beni and so many others!

The Word That Never Changes
An Amazing Fact: On Earth, water is one of the very few substances commonly found as a solid, liquid, and gas. And although ice, water, and steam all look and behave completely differently, they are each still the H₂O that all life needs.

Sheena was only 12 years old when she felt the Holy Spirit’s prompting.
Lying in bed one night, she sensed she should pray. She hesitated—it was cold—but the impression grew stronger: Get up. When she finally knelt, something changed. Before she finished her simple prayer, peace replaced confusion. She began to cry. From that night on, she wanted to know God.
That hunger eventually led her to the Amazing Facts Study Guides—Bible lessons made possible by friends like you—which confirmed truth in her heart and changed her life forever.
The Power of the Word
God’s Word reaches people in many forms—spoken, printed, or digital—but its power never changes. “The entrance of Your words gives light” (Psalm 119:130).
For more than 50 years, the Amazing Facts Bible School has helped that light shine into searching hearts. Our lessons have reached across oceans, into prisons, through the mail, and onto screens—leading countless people to Christ because of faithful co-laborers like you.
When someone studies Scripture personally, the Holy Spirit works deeply. “The word of God is living and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12).
Hungry for Truth
As Sheena grew older, her desire to follow God intensified. Then she discovered the seventh-day Sabbath in Scripture. The conviction was inescapable—but not easy. Still, she chose obedience to the Bible.
Looking for answers, she was given Amazing Facts Study Guides. She read the first 12 lessons in a single day, then quickly completed the rest. “All were wonderfully aligned with Scripture,” she says today.
Sheena was baptized and today serves in ministry at her church. She says the Bible studies completely changed her life.
Friend, that’s what your giving makes possible.

Kenya Trip Becomes Providential Ministry Opportunity
Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts International, was scheduled to spend a week preaching in the Middle East this spring. But when war broke out and his airline tickets were canceled, God opened a door for evangelism in Kenya.
What had originally been planned as a brief stop became a full week of ministry. Pastor Doug preached the Streams of Light: Revived for Mission series in Nairobi, Kenya, March 25–28, 2026, in partnership with the East Nairobi church, with up to 1,300 in attendance. He also spoke for the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism (AFCOE) Africa, helping to relaunch the program in Kenya. Several unexpected opportunities for evangelism also arose with local pastors, Muslim leaders, and university students.
“The unexpected appointments were especially exciting. The Lord blessed.”
“I’m always excited for evangelistic opportunities,” says Pastor Doug, “but the unexpected appointments, the ones we had no idea were going to happen, were especially exciting on this trip. The Lord blessed.”
AFCOE Africa Relaunched
The opportunity to spend a full week in Kenya became a major encouragement at just the right time for AFCOE Africa.
AFCOE Africa first launched in Kenya about 10 years ago. Political unrest later forced the program to move to Uganda in 2018. In January 2026, however, God opened doors for AFCOE Africa to return to Kenya. A new group of students had recently begun canvassing in Nairobi to earn their school fees and prepare for evangelistic training.
“The AFCOE Africa program is really strong,” reports Pastor Doug. “The students learn evangelism. They go door to door, learn to preach, and do evangelistic meetings. And God blesses their work with many conversions and baptisms.”
Revival Series Inspires Attendees
More than 400 people attended the nightly Streams of Light revivalmeetings for worship, spiritual encouragement, and evangelistic preaching. The series was also broadcast internationally through Hope Channel Kenya and AWR Nairobi.
The Sabbath gathering was a highlight. Held at the East African Aviation School grounds across from the airport, the event drew more than 1,300 Sabbath-keepers from across Nairobi. Organizers had expected heavy rain and set up a large tent in the parking area, but the weather remained clear.
“It was an inspiring day,” reports Pastor Doug. “The choirs were amazing. People love Amazing Facts in Africa.”
A Full Week of Ministry Surprises
Pastor Doug’s schedule in Kenya was much fuller than he initially expected. He spoke at morning worship with the AFCOE students, gave an interview to Hope Channel Kenya, spoke to theology students at the university, and even enjoyed a short safari at Nairobi National Park.
An unusual opportunity to share came when Pastor Doug was asked to speak to a group on Christian-Muslim relations. Local pastors and Muslim attendees appreciated his insights drawn from the stories of Esther and Daniel.
A Rare Appointment With Young People
One of the most meaningful moments of the trip came near the end of the visit, when Pastor Doug was asked to speak with young people at the University of Nairobi.
“I thought I was just going to be sharing my testimony,” recalls Pastor Doug, “but it turned into a four-hour conversation with the young people.”
Pastor Doug met first with a small group of young Sabbath-keepers leading ministry on various university campuses. Their enthusiasm for sharing their faith was contagious. Then the meeting moved to a large auditorium. Students began to arrive, and before long, more than 500 were in attendance. They listened attentively as Pastor Doug shared his testimony of becoming a Sabbath-keeper. Several choirs shared music before the students began asking questions.
The young people raised thoughtful questions about issues that weigh heavily on college students’ hearts, including jewelry, dating, marriage, and abstinence. Pastor Doug answered with his characteristic humor and candid, biblical counsel. The extended meeting became one of the clearest examples of how God was opening doors through the week’s changing circumstances.
God’s Leading in the Unexpected
God turned the Kenya trip into far more than a contingency plan. The week of providential openings—among pastors, AFCOE students, church members, and young people searching for biblical answers—proved once again that this is God’s work and that He never wastes an opportunity to reach people with the gospel.
Pastor Doug summed up the experience with a simple ministry principle: “In boxing, they say you have to get in and do what you can when you can. We try to do that in our ministry.”
Religious Liberty at a Crossroads: Why It Still Matters
On April 13, 2026, the Religious Liberty Commission (RLC) of the U.S. Department of Justice held its final hearing to discuss the past, present, and future of religious liberty in America.
“Today’s capstone hearing of President Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission contained more powerful testimony and discussion about how people of religion are under assault by the secular left,” said Chairman Dan Patrick. “It is time to set the record straight: there is no such thing as ‘separation of church and state’ in the Constitution. For too long, the anti-God left has used this phrase to suppress people of religion in our country. During all 7 Commission hearings, witness after witness testified that the so-called ‘separation of church and state’ was used to take their God-given religious liberty rights away.”
While concerns about the free practice of the Christian faith are real and genuine (such as the well-known bakery dispute in Colorado and several workplace Sabbath-keeping challenges), any solutions designed to protect it at the federal level must remain faithful to the Constitution’s safeguards—for all people and all faiths, and not just one group.
It is true that the phrase “separation of church and state” does not appear in the Constitution; however, the First Amendment to the Constitution, adopted in 1791, does support the concept to at least some degree:
- The first clause states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” This prohibits the U.S. government from creating a federal religion or imposing religious practices on anyone.
- The second clause adds, “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” This protects individuals’ right to worship according to the dictates of their conscience.
Both clauses are essential. “The two religion clauses of our First Amendment, operating in tandem, represent the ‘both/and’ genius of our unique religious freedom regime. They tell us that we can both enforce the establishment clause without being hostile to religion, and rigorously protect religious free exercise without favoring one religion above others” (Bettina Krause, Editor, Liberty Magazine, Nov/Dec. 2024, p. 3).
The Constitution also stipulates that: “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States” (Article VI, paragraph 3), meaning any person of any faith may serve as a representative of the people.
Religious liberty is threatened when faith is restricted—and when it is enforced.
A History of Separation
Through their actions and writings, the founders of the United States made it clear that they intended to keep church and state separate. It was not their desire to make all governing bodies free “from” religious people, but rather to advocate freedom “for” religion.
Thomas Jefferson wrote that the “whole American people,” by enacting the First Amendment, built “a wall of separation between Church & State” (Letter to the Danbury Baptists). This letter coined the term “separation of church and state,” but it was based on the Constitution and the intended meaning of the First Amendment.
And the Treaty of Tripoli, negotiated during the era of George Washington and ratified by the United States Senate under the presidency of John Adams, provides an authoritative statement from the generation that forged the nation. “Its declaration that the United States ‘is not in any sense founded upon the Christian religion’ (Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11) reflects the founders’ deliberate commitment to separating civil authority from religious establishment while still protecting the free exercise of faith.”
“The framers [of the Constitution] intentionally built a system that protected freedom of conscience for all, ensuring that government would neither impose nor favor any particular faith. When that boundary is crossed and when the state begins to elevate religious traditions, it departs from its original design and puts liberty at risk. The preservation of true religious liberty depends on maintaining that clear and essential separation—once it is compromised, liberty itself is placed in jeopardy.”
Why a Religious Liberty Commission?
The RLC was established on May 1, 2025, by President Donald Trump to review the history of religious liberty in the United States. The stated purpose of the commission is to “advise the White House Faith Office and the Domestic Policy Council on religious liberty policies of the United States, including by recommending steps to secure domestic religious liberty and identifying opportunities to further the cause of religious liberty around the world.”
Over the past year, the commission has held seven hearings to examine First Amendment rights, conscience protections regarding health and education, attacks on religious institutions, and the rights of all Americans to freely exercise their faith without fear of government censorship or antagonism.
While Christians can be grateful for efforts to ensure they can freely exercise their religious convictions even under unfriendly state legislators and courts, extreme diligence should be taken so that the pendulum does not swing in the opposite, equally dangerous direction.
According to the White House, President Trump has won over 100 victories for people of faith. While many of these are positive developments, it is conceivable that another administration could use the same government structures to ultimately favor one religion and its adherents, offering an umbrella of influence and power over other religious groups and the unreligious.
The “America Reads the Bible” campaign enlisted over 500 Americans to join President Trump and other religious leaders in reading through the entire Bible between April 18–25. Their goal was to reconnect “leaders and citizens with the transformative power of Scripture.”
A laudable goal, indeed, but could it be evidence that the U.S. government is becoming increasingly willing to align itself with a particular set of beliefs?
Religious liberty is threatened when faith is restricted—and when it is enforced. Any government that promotes one faith risks violating the liberty of those of another faith.
A Prophetic Warning
This trend should interest all students of prophecy.
The book of Revelation describes a final crisis in which a global power enforces religious worship. In Revelation 13, John sees a lamb-like beast that “speaks like a dragon,” using economic pressure and ultimately a death decree (vv. 11–17).
Several features of this power have led many Bible students to identify it with the United States. Especially noteworthy are the lamb’s two crownless horns—suggesting a government without a king and a church without a pope.
Yet the prophecy warns of a dramatic change. This same power, which begins by upholding freedom, eventually speaks “like a dragon”—using its authority to compel conscience rather than protect it.
In light of this, any movement that brings church and state closer together deserves careful attention. A government designed to protect liberty must not become an instrument for enforcing belief.
Is the United States moving in that direction?
