Are we coming back to earth after Satan's reign?

Scripture: Revelation 20:1-3, Revelation 21:1-5, 2 Peter 3:10
Are we coming back to earth after Satan's reign? The Bible says the meek will inherit the earth. When Christ returns, the Bible says the earth will be cleansed by fire and re-created.

Caller:  Are we going to be back on earth after the reign of the devil?

Pastor Doug:  The Bible tells us in Revelation 20 that Satan, of course, is bound for a thousand years but then you get to Revelation 21 and it talks about the New Jerusalem coming down to earth.  And then ,of course, you've read in Matthew 5 where Jesus says 'blessed are the meek....'  They will not inherit some celestial cloud&mdashthey inherit the earth.  So ultimately God is going to create a new heavens and a new earth, that's 2 Peter 3:10, and the redeemed, after the millennium, are going to live in this earth made new where there is no more sin or sinners.

Caller:  He's not going to blow the universe up, per se is He?

Pastor Doug:  Well, no, I don't know that He'll blow it up.  But the Bible does say in II Peter 3 'The Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night in which the heavens will dissolve with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat.  I don't know that I'd call it blowing the earth up.  So He's going to recreate this planet the same way He did in Genesis.
