Mad At God (Peggy)

Scripture:
Date: 04/03/2014
There was a time when I felt like I was taking care of my girls on my own. In any situation that would come up, he wasn't there. It was just me trying to take care of everything. I felt angry towards God for that, I felt angry toward my husband for that.

My name is Peggy Toolen. I’m originally from Houston Texas. We lived in Midland for about 14, 15 years. When my husband had a job offer to move to Detroit, we went expecting things to be easier as far as financial situations go. Once we got there, we realized the cost of living there was actually worse than it was here. He was working more, he was out of town a lot because he was a truck driver.

There was a time when I felt like I was taking care of my girls on my own. In any situation that would come up, he wasn't there. It was just me trying to take care of everything. I felt angry towards God for that, I felt angry toward my husband for that.

At that point, I was already angry with God because He hadn't been answering my prayers. Of course, my prayers back then were really selfish type prayers. They were more, “God we need more money. We need financial help.” I just thought, “What's the point God's not listening to me? I don't even want to have anything to do with Him anymore.”

It was one night I had been reading Revelation. I read through the whole thing and it made no sense whatsoever to me. After I finished it I prayed, “Lord help me to understand what this means. You must want me to understand. It's in your word. I need to know what it means.” I went on to bed and a couple of days later, we got a flyer in the mail that said,” Amazing Facts presents Revelations, prophecy seminar.” I was like, “Wow, that's our answer to prayer.”

I was so excited and my husband was too. We decided we were going to go to that seminar. I just knew when I got through the whole seminar, I just knew that's where I was going to be. With Amazing Facts, you have to learn so much about the Bible and about how to study the Bible which was what I needed before because without knowing how to study the Bible, you can't get to know Jesus. That's the most amazing thing to me is that God has led me to the place where I am now to where I can learn every day more and more about His character and how much He really does love us.

Looking back, I'm just happy that He led me the way He did even though I wasn't really listening [chuckles]. God has a way to just lead you where you need to be and take you down the right path. I look at my life now and I think, “Wow, if it could have been that way before and I would have had Him in my life this way all along.” I don't know. I'm just happy now. Doesn't matter what's going on in my life. I'm happy with God.
