There are over 300 million people that live in the US today. Out of those 300 million, only 20.4% regularly attend church. Every year, 7.9 million people discard their faith in Christ and walk away from the church. This equates to 150,000 people disappearing every week. No church is immune. On average, one person will leave your church every two weeks. Studies suggest that 85% will actually never be reported as missing and no attempt will be made to locate them.

They simply disappear. 25% of this group say they have stopped believing in organized religion altogether. 2.7 million stop attending church because life got too busy, but surprisingly, 59% who left the church did so due to other factors. At this rate, the number of professing Christians will drop to 15% by 2025 and to 11-12% in 2050. In other words, America is becoming an ever-increasing mission field. Christian churches are in decline.

The hearts of the people have grown cold. This is the future of the church, but it doesn't have to be. What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the 99 in the wilderness and go after the one which is lost until he finds it. Reclaim your faith.
