A Sudden Surge of Sunday Surfers

An Amazing Fact: In 1945, there were fewer than 10,000 TV sets in the United States; today, there are over 120 million—meaning the average home has 2.3 sets! And since COVID-19, 72 percent of Americans are now regularly watching religious services on TV and online (Pew Research Center, August 5, 2020).

Rita’s heart raced every time she thought about hell. She went to mass every Sunday with her family and even confessed her sins to a priest. Yet nothing she did brought relief …… until one Sunday morning, you pointed her to everlasting peace.

Endless numbers of people like Rita have grown up in churches that teach doctrines based on tradition instead of the Bible, and they think they are hearing truth!

So it was only through God’s grace, by way of your faithfulness, that Rita’s husband, Rick, was channel surfing and caught my message, “The Good News About Hell.” He then excitedly told Rita what he had heard—and that it was fully “backed up by the Bible.”

Utterly Lost and Alone

Rita grew up immersed in Catholic ritualism, living in constant fear of God and hellfire. In her many religion classes, there was no talk of digging into God’s Word. “Deep down, something was lacking,” she explains. “I had no idea how to go about changing things.”

Put yourself in Rita’s shoes. You know something is wrong. You believe that God exists, but you’re terrified of Him. You go to church but rarely hear His Word explained truthfully. As a result, you feel utterly lost and alone.

Do you know how Christ feels about people like Rita? “When [Jesus] saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd” (Matthew 9:36).

We must lift up Christ to these lost souls—and I mean the true picture of Him found in the Scriptures. Even amid the noise and confusion of the world, the Bible says that when we uphold Jesus, He “will draw all peoples to [Himself]” (John 12:32).

That’s why we need the biggest platform possible to reach souls for the kingdom. And there’s no place like Sunday morning television!

Seeing Jesus

Rick kept watching Amazing Facts, including my sermon debunking the secret rapture, which piqued Rita’s interest. “I started watching,” she shares, “and came to the realization that this guy knew the Bible in a way I had never seen.”

Rita discovered that she didn’t need to be afraid of the Father, and she rejoiced in knowing what would really happen in the future, how God would rescue His people and deal justly with everyone.

Friend, when people behold the real Jesus, they are changed …

  • Isaiah “saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up” (Isaiah 6:1). This led to his confession and conversion.

  • Paul saw a blinding revelation of Christ en route to persecuting Christians in Damascus. Transformed, he asked, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” (Acts 9:6).

  • Even a thief hanging on a cross, when he saw Jesus lifted up, said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom” (Luke 23:42).

That’s how your gifts changed Rita’s life forever. Your loving gifts lifted up Christ on Sunday morning TV, and she was transformed!

Rick and Rita eventually found a Sabbath-keeping church. “I felt I had come home,” Rita says. Surrounded by family members, they were baptized.

Most television shows teach that happiness comes from pursuing the pleasures of the world—but you and I know that’s a trap straight from Satan. With political unrest and an ongoing pandemic, anxious people everywhere are probing channels, searching for peace and answers at a volume not seen since the terror attacks on 9/11.

That’s why we need to be there when they turn the channel. We must place the real Jesus in more positions of high visibility. But how?

Miraculous Multiplication

Imagine if you could elevate Bible truth before 100 million homes. Now you can: God has just opened wide one of the largest doors in the history of Amazing Facts!

ION is a giant national TV network in the United States. It has grown 41 percent since 2015 and now distributes programming on 195 stations nationwide. In other words, its coverage is massive! In fact, it reaches 96 percent of all homes in America—including those that receive television only through Dish Network and DirectTV.

When the 8:30 AM prime Sunday timeslot opened up on ION, a highly watched slot tucked between David Jeremiah and Charles Stanley—two of the biggest religious programs on TV—we saw a chance to lift high the Bible’s essential last-day messages.

As you might imagine, big opportunities like this also take BIG faith and BIG funds. But God asks, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” (Genesis 18:14). That’s why I know it’s no coincidence that friends of Amazing Facts have committed up to $600,000 as a matching gift toward TV ministry this month.

It means that whatever you decide to give between now and December 31 will be doubled, making it possible for you to help twice as many people find lifesaving truth.

We estimate this opportunity on ION will reach an additional 750,000 souls each month with the everlasting gospel, but we need to commit before it disappears. Will you enable us to secure this perfect timeslot?

Because of the matching opportunity, your gift of $50 that would normally help 600 people know truth will double, reaching more than 1,200 viewers. A gift of $200 doubles to $400 to reach almost 5,000 people. And a generous gift of $1,000 will be doubled to make a $2,000 eternal difference in people’s lives.

This truly is a rare, time-sensitive chance for your life-giving gifts to go further than ever into people’s homes! What could be more rewarding?
