Throwing Out a Lifeline of Salvation

An Amazing Fact: During the grueling 66-day voyage of the Mayflower over 400 years ago, John Howland nearly died after falling overboard during a fierce storm. He barely managed to grab hold of a trailing rope, giving the crew just enough time to rescue him with a boat hook. In the New World, John thrived—he married and had 10 children, from whom about two million Americans would descend, including three U.S. presidents! The salvation of that one life multiplied and left an indelible mark on American history.

Michael fell overboard and almost drowned, but not from a boating accident. Instead, the 23-year-old was nearly swallowed up by a drug overdose.

I’m reminded of the despair of King David, who wrote, “Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. … I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me” (Psalm 69:1, 2). Urgent cries like this are now ascending from people all over the globe. The Lord hears these pleas and looks to His people—you and me—to cooperate with divine agencies to rescue them.

Are you willing to toss them a buoy of Bible truth before it is too late?

An Emotional Wreck

When paramedics rushed Michael into the ER, he was near death. Medical staff were able to revive him, but his brain and kidneys were badly damaged, and he suffered through intense hallucinations.

Satan’s solutions for people searching for happiness always lead to death. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Have you noticed the spike in suicides, violence, and addictions during the pandemic?

Likewise, although Michael was raised in a Christian home, he had turned away from those beliefs. By the time he was 16, he had run away from home and was addicted to drugs and alcohol. He often woke up in jail or the hospital. “I was an emotional wreck,” he says.

When Michael’s parents placed him in a Christian rehab center, he loathed being in a religious environment. He soon fled, but his family patiently brought him back. Yet what could possibly save Michael’s despairing heart?

Miraculous Restoration

Jesus—and His lifesaving truth—is always the answer! The Savior said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and … have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

One day, an employee at the rehab center asked Michael if he wanted to study God’s Word together. “I had no interest,” he recalls, “and no faith that the Bible had anything for me.” Yet he agreed to give it a try.

Those studies were “like a flood of light.” Michael was convicted that the Bible was real. He even called his parents and apologized for being a bad son.

Then the Lord opened the door even wider, totally transforming his life. While at the rehab center, Michael found Amazing Facts’ The Prophecy Code evangelistic series. When he was younger, his mom had read to him my book The Richest Caveman. He was thrilled to know that the man on the screen was the same person!

Michael started getting up early to watch the presentations. At first, he had no idea what I was saying, but he kept watching and reading his Bible. Over the next month, God began to miraculously restore his mind.

A Lifeline of Salvation

I am so grateful that you are a part of the Amazing Facts evangelism team. When you give, you make possible evangelistic series like Prophecy Code, a rope of hope for sinking souls.

After he returned home from rehab, Michael attended a live prophecy series presented by an Amazing Facts evangelist. By the end of the series, Michael stepped into the waters of baptism, drowning his old life and rising to a new life in Christ (Romans 6:4).

Your co-laboring gifts threw out a lifeline to Michael just in time.

As Michael’s story makes clear, public evangelism is still one of the most powerful methods to proclaim life-changing truth. It provides seeking hearts a chance to hear and be immersed into the Word of God in person, ask Bible questions, and witness others take a stand for Christ.

So, after a year of lockdowns, Amazing Facts is swinging open the doors to the new W.O.R.D. Center—all for the cause of evangelism. Beginning October 22, we will begin a one-month series we’re tentatively calling Panorama of Prophecy: An Epic Bible Study Adventure.

Never has the world been riper for hearing Bible prophecy. The signs of the times are clear to many, and they are searching NOW for something they can believe in and cling to. Someday soon, probation will close. Let’s act while the doors of mercy are still open!

Prophecy Proclaimed

Panorama of Prophecy will require a host of faithful friends. Producing the broadcast in multiple languages, designing and advertising, printing the materials, and airing this full series of 24 messages will cost about $300,000. Plus, we’ll also train an enthusiastic team of fresh AFCOE students to assist with Bible studies, door-to-door work, and much more.

Few things are more successful in changing lives than our live evangelistic programs. Would you prayerfully consider giving an evangelistic-size gift this month to support our soul-saving programs—including making this new series possible?

Your gifts create a solid lifeline of accurate Bible teaching, ultimately bringing many souls into God’s kingdom through baptism. Whether you send $25, $50, $100, or more, God will multiply its impact to help more desperate people like Michael find everlasting peace and joy.

Friend, after Michael experienced our evangelistic series, he wrote, “The Lord has been so good to me!” Thank you for throwing Michael a lifeline of salvation. Now let’s reach more perishing souls.
