“One moment!” a woman called. 

Soon the door cracked open, revealing a sick woman in a wheelchair. Dankin watched her struggle to maneuver her chair so she could open the door fully.

Dankin greeted the woman cheerfully, but it wasn’t long before her sad story came pouring out. Her husband had left her, and then she became sick. Finally, an accident that resulted in two broken legs led to her confinement in the wheelchair. She felt completely alone.

Dankin looked down at the book in his hands—At Jesus’ Feet by Doug Batchelor. Though neither knew it then, this book would change her life. 

Staying in Touch

Dankin thought about the story of the woman in the book. Mary Magdalene’s life had been difficult because she had no one who truly loved her. But meeting Jesus had changed everything.

“Please take this book,” Dankin urged the woman, hoping she’d discover the same love that transformed Mary’s life. Before leaving, he also left his phone number with her. 

Unfortunately, this was the only book by Pastor Doug published in her language, but Dankin promised, “I’ll do my best to get you another book.”

Meanwhile, Dankin directed her to the Hope Channel, where Pastor Doug’s sermons are often broadcast. As the woman listened to the messages, she learned about Jesus’ love, the Sabbath, and the Bible’s end-time prophecies. She and Dankin also became good friends.

Partnering Together

Today, Dankin’s friend belongs to a Sabbath-keeping church. Her husband eventually returned, and they’re now happily married.

Dankin shares, “It is a very good thing to lead someone in a simple way to the information that saves their life.” His friend now invites others to her home to watch Pastor Doug and the Hope Channel. “She’s equipped for ministry,” Dankin says with a smile.

As a master’s student in India, Dankin often uses Amazing Facts resources in outreach. He reports that another contact has studied their way into Christianity and Sabbath-keeping just from the resources on amazingfacts.org!

She also diligently obeyed the teachings of confessing to a priest, saying the rosary, and praying to Mary. But Diane was left confused about why these practices didn’t match up with what she read in the first two commandments.

However, her biggest struggle and confusion as a child came from the secrets shamefully hidden behind closed doors. Diane was often told that she wasn’t going to amount to anything. She remembers well the abuse and betrayal she felt at the hands of her parents. “If my parents were Christian, why were they doing these things? I had every reason to question whether God even existed,” she says.

Eager to escape, she left home at just 16 years old. She got a job and spent her free time drinking with the wrong kinds of people. Sadly, the freedom she thought she’d found by leaving home soon proved a mirage; she began a relationship with a man who beat her. She learned to wear sunglasses to hide her bruised eyes and remained in this devastating cycle because of the children they shared.

Random Research Leads to Amazing Facts Website

Throughout these painful years, Diane sometimes called out to God. She remembered the teachings ingrained since childhood and would wonder about the Ten Commandments. She tried to read the Bible occasionally but found it too hard to understand most of the time.

Eventually, Diane graduated from nursing school, left her abusive relationship, and moved to another town with her children. She also felt drawn to church. But returning to her Catholic roots only reminded her of the same questions from her childhood, the questions that left her in doubt. Diane began researching online. She decided to explore different churches and their beliefs so that she could find a spiritual home.

That’s when she discovered amazingfacts.org.

“I Couldn’t Get Enough!”

Diane began listening to one of the sermons, expecting to feel the same sense of boredom and futility she experienced at Mass. “My initial thought was that I would listen for a few minutes,” she says. But when she next noticed the time, almost an hour had passed. At that moment, Diane knew she wanted to hear more. “I was hooked and couldn’t get enough!”

Because of the resources made available by the generosity of friends like you, Diane fed her longing for a true knowledge of God. She downloaded the Amazing Facts app and began listening to Pastor Doug’s sermons and prophecy seminars.

She says, “I was able to follow along in the Bible with the teachings from Pastor Doug. The Amazing Facts Study Guides helped me tremendously. I was able to locate the teachings directly in the Bible verses they provided. I had so many questions, including who the bride and the beast of Revelation were. The messages really educated me.”

Diane also felt convicted by the Bible lesson regarding the Sabbath. “I knew I needed to find a church like this,” she says. When she walked into a local Sabbath-keeping church, she found a new spiritual family who lovingly welcomed her. After attending and studying for six months, she was baptized!

Truly Reborn

Today, Diane sings in the church choir and loves to bring her extra garden produce to share with those in need. “I am truly reborn!” she rejoices. “I now understand the Sabbath truth and how to keep it. What would have happened to me if there was nobody to share this information?”

Diane’s walk with God is impacted every day by the many resources of Amazing Facts. “My life today is one where I eat, sleep, and breathe in God’s Word,” she says. “I cannot get enough of the books, sermons, and DVDs from Amazing Facts.”

In 2001, the terrorist attacks of 9/11 were a personal and spiritual wakeup call for Dee’s father. A few years later, his dad found Amazing Facts on television—something that you helped make possible—and began watching the evangelistic series Most Amazing Prophecies.

Dee’s father eventually asked him to watch too. Says Dee, “When I first watched the series, I thought, ‘I’ve never heard that before about the state of the dead—or the Sabbath, or the Ten Commandments, or the rapture—But that’s what the text really says!’ The more I watched, the more helpful it became. I realized there’s so much stuff in the Bible that no one is talking about, stuff that people need to know.”

Dee felt called to find ways to share what he was learning. Once again, your loving support came to his aid. “One of the things that helped me was Amazing Facts’ websites—SabbathTruth.com, HellTruth.com, and TruthAboutDeath.com. If I needed an answer to a Bible question, there was a 95 percent chance that these sites would have something I could use. It made witnessing easier.”

As a young believer, Dee also valued his Amazing Facts Prophecy Study Bible— and he especially appreciated the Bible Study Guides in the back. He grew rapidly in his walk with God, eventually attending an evangelism training school and being baptized.

After working in ministry for about five years, Dee discovered that Pastor Doug was going to be the key speaker at a youth event where Dee would also be con-ducting a seminar. It was “kind of an amazing full-circle experience” for Dee to meet Pastor Doug—the first preacher to share with him the Bible’s full message. “To be able to do ministry with him meant the world to me,” Dee shares, “and to be able to tell him my story and thank him was a blessing.”

Today, Dee continues to grow spiritually and share Christ passionately. He is involved in sharing the last-day message as a full-time evangelist and through video ministry. He says, “God gave me a precious gift in finding Pastor Doug on television.” Thank you, friend, for changing not only Dee’s life, but so many others as well!

However, when Chris met Rebecca, things changed. “She gave me an ultimatum,” he explains. “ ‘Either the drugs go, or I go.’ ” Chris immediately dropped the drugs.

Chris wanted nothing more to do with church. “I had lost all interest in God. Everything was going great for me, so I thought I had no need of God. I had the woman of my dreams, my own business, and plenty of money.”

Finding Truth Online

Over the next five years, Rebecca begged Chris to return to church. But when some church members suggested to Rebecca that if she didn’t speak in tongues, she wasn’t saved, she was tempted to give up on church too. That’s when she began studying her Bible for hours a day, searching for assurance of her salvation.

During this time of seeking, Rebecca uncovered surprising truths. First, she discovered there was no biblical support for the “secret rapture.” When she announced her findings to Chris, he was indignant. He says, “I told her she was crazy and that I would call my grandfather, who was a minister, to show her where she was wrong. But when I made the phone call, to my surprise, he had no answer for the Bible verses she had given me.”

Another day Rebecca told him, “Chris, I think the Sabbath is on Saturday.”

Chris shares, “As we looked together at all the texts, we couldn’t believe it. We thought we had found some secret that no one else in the world knew about.” Their quest for truth soon led Chris to search further online.

Pastor Doug’s sermons on YouTube especially caught their attention, and they watched them over and over for months. The messages of Amazing Facts were so powerful that one evening, Chris decided that he would go back to church—but it would be the church that Pastor Doug belonged to. Chris and his wife had never heard of Sabbathkeepers even existing, but when Chris made a call to a local church, he was warmly received. They have since joined that very congregation. Even better, Chris has become a Bible worker and has regular speaking engagements sharing God’s last-day message in West Virginia and Kentucky. He is currently studying religion with a dream of becoming a pastor.
