Before They JUMP SHIP
An Amazing Fact: In November 2022, 28-year-old James Grimes fell from a cruise ship into the dark waters of the Gulf of Mexico. With no life jacket, he treaded water for nearly 20 hours—battling exhaustion, cold currents, and fear—before being rescued. “It was just the Lord out there giving me the strength to stay afloat,” he said.
Can you imagine the terror of being lost and alone in the cold sea—fighting just to stay afloat?
Sadly, that reflects the spiritual reality for millions of young people today. Around 70 percent of Christian youth stop attending church after high school. Some return … many never do. Like James, they slowly drift from God—often without realizing the danger.
A Global Burden for Youth
On campuses across the United States, Africa, Europe, Asia, and South America, you can co-labor with me to help students who are adrift and without purpose.
This spring, your Amazing Facts team will minister in Thailand. I’ll share the plain truth at a university with hundreds of students who are seeking answers to life’s biggest questions.
You can also help train AFCOE Bible workers and evangelists across the Southern Hemisphere. These dedicated young disciples will return to share Jesus in some of the most challenging mission fields on Earth—including the 10/40 Window, where billions have never heard the everlasting gospel.
But many of our most effective resources still need translation. Will you help translate, print, and distribute truth-filled materials that will equip these young workers to reach their peers in their languages?
A Young Life Rescued
Jeremy drifted into self-harm, alcohol, and destructive relationships at a young age. “It left me questioning my life,” he says, especially after being held at gunpoint one day. Eventually, he was invited to church, gave his life to Christ, and was baptized.
But over time, life became busy, and church attendance faded. “I wasn’t taught to be a disciple,” Jeremy explains. Grief following his mother’s death and the pressures of life pulled him even further away.
Hungry for truth, especially about Revelation, Jeremy turned to YouTube one evening. He discovered my Amazing Facts Revelation Now series. “Pastor Doug was answering my questions—straight from the Bible,” he says.
As he continued studying, more Amazing Facts resources brought Scripture to life. “I don’t know where I’d be without Amazing Facts,” Jeremy shares. Today, he uses those same materials to teach his children and share his faith. “God led me to Amazing Facts,” he says, “and I know He’s using them to spread His Word.”
Throwing a Lifeline
The Bible says Jesus “is able to keep you from falling” (Jude 1:24). What a promise! And what a calling to you and His other followers—to be God’s hands to help young people who are drowning in the cold, dark waters of sin.
For as little as 32 cents, you can place biblical answers in the hands of a seeker. A kind gift of $200 equips over 2,850 social media truth-seekers. And $100 helps impact 1,767 Bible students across borders through online translated resources. Your gift right now can stop someone, perhaps a young person you know, from walking away from the faith!
In gratitude for your generous gift, I’d love to send you “Passing the Smell Test,” my heartfelt message that will energize your commitment to Christ in these last days. And please include your prayer request on the enclosed reply card. Our team will faithfully pray for you!
Thank you for your prayers, your compassion, and your faithful partnership. You are the reason young people don’t have to face the storm alone.
With gratitude and hope,
Pastor Doug Batchelor
P.S. Right now, young people are treading the cold waters of spiritual darkness, hoping someone will reach them before it’s too late. Your gift equips them with truth before they drift—or walk—away from faith. Please throw a lifeline today.
