Stopped Dead in His Tracks
AnAmazing Fact: Covering15 percent of the Earth’s surface, the South Pacific is home to 2.3 millionpeople across 20,000 islands. While many know these islands for their beauty, few realize how many people there have never heard the full truth of God’sWord.
Paia wasrushing through his living room when he overheard something on TV that stoppedhim in his tracks.
I had justasked, “Why do so many Christians keep Sunday as the Sabbath?”
Like Paia, millions are rushing past the truth. But every now and then, something makes them pause. That’s when the Holy Spirit moves—and that’s whereyou come in.
Will youhelp stop searching hearts in their tracks and turn themtoward Jesus?
A DivineInterruption
Paia grew upin the South Pacific and faithfully attended church on Sundays. His parentswere strict. Sunday was for Bible reading—no work, no play. But when his familymoved to New Zealand, he began exploring different churches.
One day, asthey walked to church, they passed a family working in their garden. Annoyed,Paia and his parents muttered about these “Sabbath-breakers.” Hehad no idea how much his own understanding of the Sabbath would change one day!
TheChannel That Wouldn’t Change
Years later,as a father of two, Paia started watching Christian programs. He avoided Sabbath-keepingchannels—he thought they were a cult! Then one night, coming home from work, heflipped on the TV to watch one of his favorite preachers.
The channelwas stuck on a Sabbath station. Guess who was speaking? Me. Guesswhat I was preaching about? Yep! The Sabbath.
Annoyed, hetried to change the channel. Nothing. He began to turn away but froze when Iasked: “Why do so many Christians go to church on Sunday?”
It was asimple question. But it stopped him in his tracks.
Paia grabbedhis Bible and laptop, ready to disprove what I was saying.Instead, the more he searched, the more the truth became clear.
That night,he never made it to the shower. Instead, he spent hours watchingsermon after sermon.
Whenchurches temporarily closed during COVID lockdowns, he watched even more.Eventually, he knew he had a choice: Sunday or the true Sabbath!
Paia and hisdaughters chose the Sabbath. When they visited a Sabbath-keeping church, theywere welcomed with open arms. He knew he was home.
