Our New Strategic Project: Translating Sermons into Bengali and Urdu

Our New Strategic Project: Translating Sermons into Bengali and Urdu

India is one of the most diverse nations on Earth. It is home to the world’s largest population, the seventh-largest landmass, and an astonishing 780 spoken languages. Hindi alone has more than 525 million speakers. But with so many languages, the challenge of sharing the everlasting gospel with everyone in India is immense.

Without translation, millions will never hear the truth!

But take courage! God is using you and your generous gifts to meet this challenge. Because you cared, skilled translators and proofreaders are at work, and Amazing Facts materials are now being translated into 24 languages. Pastor Doug’s 30-minute sermons are currently dubbed and broadcast in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil—India’s first, fourth, and fifth most-spoken languages.

Your prayers and giving in 2025 also made these milestones possible:

  • Two colporteur trainings equipped 56 people to share gospel truth door to door.
  • Three revival meetings and one evangelistic series reached thousands.
  • Truth-filled materials were placed in the hands of tens of thousands across India.
  • Revelation Verse by Verse in 11 languages was selected as India’s official 2026 devotional
  • More than 600 seekers received help through the call center.

Now God is answering prayers to accelerate the work into two of the world’s largest languages: Bengali and Urdu. For years, the Amazing Facts India team has received urgent requests for sermons in these languages. Until now, those requests could not be met because the free Bible study materials needed to accompany each sermon were still being developed.

Television and social media open doors into homes—but free offers transform interest into understanding and commitment. With those materials now complete, the door is wide open.

We are ready to translate 175 of Pastor Doug’s best sermons into Bengali and Urdu.

Bengali is India’s second-most-spoken language and the official language of neighboring Bangladesh. It is the sixth-largest language in the world, with 242 million native speakers. Urdu is the nineteenth-largest language globally, the seventh-largest in India, and the official language of Pakistan, with about 230 million speakers worldwide. Most Bengali and Urdu speakers are Muslim—a largely unreached group with a deep need to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

In 2024, Pastor Doug and his wife, Karen, spoke to large crowds in India and Pakistan, where the hunger for truth was unmistakable. The harvest truly is great—but we cannot broadcast life-changing truth in Bengali and Urdu without your help.

Thank you for your faithful partnership in rescuing souls for God’s kingdom. Your generosity is shining light into dark places—and bringing revival to India’s Sabbath-keeping believers.

Bible Study Guides Unfold Truth Simply, Compellingly

Hinduism, Islam, and Buddhism are deeply woven into India’s culture, making it one of the most challenging places in the world to share the everlasting gospel. Prejudice and persecution are common. Yet God is powerfully using your faithfulness to draw sincere seekers to Himself.

Thank you for making it possible to translate the Amazing Facts Study Guides into eight local languages. Thank you, too, for helping replace Western images with culturally relevant visuals—an important step that greatly increases the guides’ effectiveness and acceptance. Now, with your continued support, these trusted lessons can be prepared in 12 additional languages, opening the door for countless more to discover Bible truth.

God is already bearing fruit through your generosity. Here are just a few of the lives being touched:

  • Vijay, a student enrolled in the Telugu Bible School, sent a donation of $58 USD with this message: “Please accept my small donation. It is nothing compared to the truth I have received through the Amazing Facts Study Guides. Your materials truly bless me. I have read many books before, but I have never encountered a Bible study so clear and easy to understand. I am now sharing what I am learning with others.”
  • The impact goes beyond individuals. Prabhalika, whose husband pastors a small village church, uses the lessons to teach villagers—many of whom cannot read or write. Despite this challenge, attendance is strong, and one young girl has already decided to be baptized.
  • People from other Christian traditions are also discovering new truth. Srabonti, a Baptist, learned about the Sabbath through the Study Guides and is now sharing what she has learned with her church. She says, “These guides help me understand the Bible’s complex language more easily and grasp its true meaning.”
  • In some of India’s most remote and difficult regions, the Study Guides are opening doors where traditional evangelism rarely reaches. Eyob, a Bible worker, serves in the Sundarbans Islands of East India—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to four million people, yet only about thirty Seventh-day Adventists. Through door-to-door ministry, documentaries such as Cosmic Conflict and Final Events, and the Study Guides, Eyob and his wife are introducing many to Bible truth. Presbyterians, Baptists, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Assembly of God members, and others are inviting him to teach and explain Scripture.

Thank you for standing with us to share the gospel in India. These testimonies offer only a glimpse of the multiplying work God is doing through your faithful gifts and prayers!

Studying the Bible with a Classmate

One of the most powerful ways you are helping share the gospel in India is by equipping Sabbath-keepers to witness with confidence. Devaraj is one of them. He works with Amazing Facts India as a video editor while attending university.

One of Devaraj’s classmates is Ramesh, who comes from a Hindu family in a rural area of Karnataka, India. Ramesh’s father passed away several years ago, and his mother suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Because of this, his older sister supports him financially and pays for his education.

Ramesh once shared something remarkable with Devaraj. From a young age, he said, he sensed a voice in his heart telling him, “Search for the true God.” Because he was not a Christian, he didn’t fully understand what that meant—but he longed to know the God who created him and all things. After completing primary school, Ramesh decided to pursue a university degree. Unsure where to go, he followed the suggestion of his sister’s manager and enrolled at a Christian school.

Since becoming classmates, Ramesh has been full of questions about Christianity and the Bible. “We often talk about Scripture,” Devaraj explains, “and those conversations lead to many more questions—especially about the Holy Spirit.” A few weeks ago, Ramesh asked if he could attend church with Devaraj. He has now been coming regularly for several Sabbaths.

Despite balancing part-time work and full-time studies, Devaraj has been able to give Ramesh Bible studies each week. After church, they study together using the Amazing Facts Study Guides. “I’m grateful for these lessons,” Devaraj says. “They are easy to use and clearly answer questions about Bible topics that many people wonder about. God has helped me share His Word with my friend.”

The result? Ramesh has expressed a desire to be baptized. “I thank God for helping me give these Bible studies,” Devaraj adds. “I ask you to please pray for Ramesh’s spiritual growth.”

Thank you for providing easy-to-understand Bible study materials that empower believers like Devaraj to share their faith—and enable sincere seekers like Ramesh to discover truth for themselves.

India Prayer Needs

Thank you so much for all you are doing to make the work of God in India possible. The Lord is working mightily through your prayers and compassionate gifts to reach hungry souls in India with the gospel. In the coming months, please pray earnestly for God to open doors for the gospel and protect his workers from Satan’s attacks:

  • Consecrated young people to join our canvassing training program
  • The languages and materials being translated for the people of South Asia
  • Funds required to translate sermons into Bengali and Urdu and begin broadcasting them
  • Our call center staff as they answer people’s questions about Christ
  • The Christian TV channels we broadcast on, as they constantly face opposition
  • Liberty to spread the gospel in India
  • For God’s blessing for our Bible worker in the Sundarbans
