Clare The Buddhist Scientist, Part 2
Read Time: 3 min

God was speaking to Clare, a Buddhist scientist who had listened on the web to Roger Morneau speak about evolution and reincarnation. And what was that “Sunday worship” thing all about? Mr. Morneau professed to be something called a Sabbath-keeper instead. Curious, Clare searched the Internet for the word “Sabbath-keeper”—and up came the Amazing Facts website.
It was exactly what she needed. Delighted, she saw a list of Bible studies that she could complete online and entirely for free. She went through all 24 Storacles lessons, drinking in the information like one who had spent her entire life in a drought.
Then she watched the entire series of The Millennium of Prophecy with Pastor Doug Batchelor. By the end, she realized that she needed to make the biggest decision of her life. “The Holy Spirit kept convicting me sermon after sermon,” she says, “that I needed to forsake everything in order to follow Christ. The messages moved my heart and appealed to me to make major decisions in my life.” When Pastor Doug shared how no person can follow two masters, it brought conviction.
Clare identified with people who attempt to serve two masters. She was living these two lives that were gradually growing further and further apart. By this point, she had graduated and become a pharmacist. She was still living with her boyfriend in their comfortable home and was now working at a successful job. It seemed as though she were painting this perfect picture of her future. Years of time, effort, and money had been invested into this life. But it was all so empty—her friends, her work, her relationship. It was meaningless because it was Christ-less.
She knew her life had to change, so she made a decision.
Clare searched online and found the nearest Sabbath-keeping church, showing up the very next Saturday. She was warmly greeted by church members and was soon invited to study the Bible with them. That church became Clare’s home church and that church family, her family. She eventually left her home, her job, and her boyfriend. She was baptized into that church and now lives as a medical missionary in China, ministering in health and lifestyle programs, giving Bible studies, and leading out in prayer meetings. And her own father and mother are now studying the Bible too.
Reflect: Do you need to make a decision in your life? Is there something the Holy Spirit is convicting you to change? Will you choose to make that change? Right now? God will help you if you trust and obey.
Key Bible Texts
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. (Joshua 24:15 KJV)
