Give Glory to God

Daily Devotional Audio

Fearing God is not all that the first angel calls us to do. We are also to “give glory to Him.”

Scripture tells us, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20). “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (10:31). Glorifying God is about how we live; it’s the product of who you are.

Jesus said, “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples” (John 15:8). He explained, “He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (v. 5). In essence, we glorify God when Christ’s character is in us: “We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18). This is how God writes His law in our hearts.

While the world is constructing an image to the beast, God’s people are to allow the Holy Spirit to construct the image of Christ in them. Notice that this is a two-way street: We abide in Christ, but we also need to allow Christ to abide in us. We make the choice to open our hearts to God so that He will enter and stamp the impress of Jesus Christ, the Word, on the innermost core of us.

The Bible also tells us, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). In other words, we do not glorify God when we sin. But the same solution presents itself: We are sinful, but Christ is sinless (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5). Yes, though many think otherwise, the Bible states that when Christ recreates His sinless character in us, we naturally will no longer sin.

My Deliverer, help me to unlock the door to my heart; come in today and change my character into Your image.
