In describing the attributes of God, the Bible doesn’t leave out qualities that are above and beyond human strength. For example, the Lord is omniscient (all-knowing). Job writes, “Do you know how the clouds are balanced, those wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge?” (Job 37:16). He is the “Alpha and Omega” and knows the beginning from the end (Revelation 1:8).
God is omnipresent and transcends all space. The Bible says, “There is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13). God is eternal and not bound by time. David writes, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Psalm 90:2).
God is also omnipotent (all-powerful) and nothing is impossible for Him. There are more than forty references in Scripture describing the Lord’s strong arms. Speaking of God’s salvation to Jerusalem, the Bible says, “The Lord has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God” (Isaiah 52:10). God’s arms represent His omnipotent strength.
When you are afraid, never forget that you are safe in your Father’s arms. “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).
