Kristi God Was Waiting for Me
Read Time: 3 min

One Saturday morning, Kristi went for a walk with her six-year-old son through her town in the Republic of Estonia. She soon noticed that they were passing a Sabbath-keeping church. Months before, she’d learned from a former co-worker that they worshiped on Saturday. It seemed to Kristi as though God was calling her to come inside.
Kristi had grown up knowing almost nothing about Christianity. Sometimes she glanced through a small children’s Bible she’d received as a gift, but as she grew older, her interest turned to the occult and New Age.
She smoked heavily, drank, and partied—even after giving birth to a son when she was twenty years old. But no matter how much she partied, her sense of hopelessness grew.
Now as Kristi stood outside the church, she felt afraid to go in. But she couldn’t ignore the faint stirring of hope inside—the thought that she might be able to find something real and meaningful beyond the front door, if she just had the courage to take a step forward.
“I felt like God was waiting to meet me there,” she says today. Kristi decided to answer the gentle invitation and went inside and sat down in a pew.
The message she heard was like cool refreshing water to her thirsty spirit. She felt like she’d come home. But she still had so many unanswered questions. Eager to learn more, she began searching online and was thrilled to discover some video sermons by a pastor named Doug Batchelor.
“Every time I had a question, I would find an Amazing Facts sermon about it,” she shares. “I was so happy knowing that a powerful God loves me, and wants a sinner like me. Pastor Doug has helped me a lot with his video sermons. I love listening to Amazing Facts on YouTube and on the app.”
God revealed His love to Kristi and she made the life-changing decision to join the family of God. “I was baptized in the summer of 2017,” she reveals, “and began to let go of all that displeases God. I know God is cleansing my whole life. So much has happened since I began walking with God.”
Reflect: Has the Holy Spirit ever prompted you to walk through a door? Maybe you need to go back to church or maybe witness to a friend. Listen to God and walk forward in faith!
