No More Tears
Read Time: 2 min

When you cry because of deep emotion, your tears have protein-based hormones floating in them, along with a neurotransmitter, leucine enkephalin, which helps reduce stress. Meanwhile, all tears are made of water, salt, fatty oils, and more than 1,500 different proteins, regardless of why we shed them.
However, according to today’s verse, there will one day be no more death, no more sorrow, and no more tears. What a wonderful promise! But notice one thing before this promise is completed: God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. Tears in the new earth? How could it be?
Well, look at what has just happened to the lost, “everyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). We’ve had one thousand years to reign with Christ as priests (20:6) and judges (20:4), even judging angels (1 Corinthians 6:3). We will “know” even as we are “known,” no longer looking “through a glass darkly; but then face to face” (13:12).
We will see that the Lord did all that He could to save the lost. And when He has revealed to us “the counsels of the hearts” (4:5), we will be satisfied. “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments” (Revelation 16:7).
But still—how could it not hurt to lose a loved one for all eternity? How could we not weep for those lost who we so wished could be with us in paradise?
And yet, even then, God will wipe away those tears from our eyes. Afterward, and only afterward, “there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Lord, I thank You for the promise that all this pain and suffering will one day be over. I look forward to the time when there will be no more tears.
