Sauya A Dream from God, Part 1
Read Time: 3 min

“You should believe the message that My servants are presenting.”
She woke with a start. It had been no ordinary dream. She had heard that voice—that beautiful, mysterious voice had spoken to her again.
There was to be a group baptism tomorrow, she knew. Her husband and those two young evangelists wanted her to be part of that group.
Well, they were going to be disappointed. But that voice had given her specific details about the baptisms, and her curiosity was piqued …
Two young men sat together. It was the first month of the new year—and what a way to begin the year! Francis and Eugene had only just completed their training at the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism in Africa; now they would spend the next month outside the city of Kampala, Uganda, putting to practice all they had learned. Their meetings were going to be held in a few simple tents staked outdoors. They would take turns preaching for the entire month.
But how would people receive them?
They both looked so young, especially Eugene. In the sea of attendees were many who were older. How would they take to two inexperienced boys telling them, guiding them, exhorting them? But God’s Word encourages, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).
As their meetings went on, Francis and Eugene noticed quite a few Muslims in attendance. The Islamic faith was indeed popular in Uganda, but some had come to hear the truth from the Bible. And then there were those who came because of their husbands, like Sauya.
Sauya’s husband was a Sabbath-keeper, and he wanted his wife to give the Bible a fair chance. So Sauya came night after night. But she did not like it.
At one meeting, the subject of baptism was broached. When Sauya’s husband asked her about it, she already knew the answer. “No!” was her firm reply. She would not leave Islam, and nothing anyone could say would change her mind.
But Sauya’s husband did not give up.
Reflect: How quickly do you turn away from a person who resists hearing the gospel? There is a time to retreat, but sometimes the Spirit urges us to press forward. Pray for that wisdom.
