The Mark of the Beast, Part 2

Daily Devotional Audio

“The mark … of the beast” is given by the second beast, which, as Revelation 13:12 explained, “causes … worship [of] the first beast.” So, this is a mark of servitude to the first beast, the papacy. Like everything else the devil does, the mark of the beast is a counterfeit.

This Catholic catechism teaches:

Question: Have you any other way of proving that the Church has power to institute festivals of precept? Answer: Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her—she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority.

This Catholic archbishop clarified:

Is not every Christian obliged to sanctify Sunday and to abstain on that day from unnecessary servile work? Is not the observance of this law among the most prominent of our sacred duties? But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify.

The mark of the beast is the observance of the first day of the week, Sunday, as holy. It is the sign of obedience to papal authority above the Word of God. It is manmade law posing as God’s law. And it will be forced upon the world by both economic sanction and threat of death (Revelation 13:15). If you do not worship on Sunday as the spurious law demands, your life will be on the line.

?Precious Savior, though death may come, may I remain faithful and true to Your holy law and Your law alone.
