Unbelievable Power

Daily Devotional Audio

You probably wouldn’t be impressed by its name—the Wärtsilä RT- flex96C—but you might be stunned by the size of this monster engine. This jaw-dropping diesel motor is the largest and most powerful in the world today. Built in Finland, the RT-flex96C’s fourteen cylinders can deliver over 80,000 KW of power—enough to run a small city.

The engine stands 44 feet tall, is 90 feet long, and weighs a whopping 2,300 tons. Each of the giant 14 cylinders consumes 6.5 ounces of diesel in just one cycle, which is actually quite efficient considering the size of motor. The Wärtsilä RT-flex96C was made for a cargo ship that carries 11,000 20-foot shipping containers between the United States and China at a breakneck speed of 31 knots.

There is a greater power at your disposal, enough to perform the most difficult task on the planet: changing the human heart. Jesus’ “divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3, 4).

We may be transformed into the image of our Creator when we partake of Christ. “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts” (Romans 13:14). This sanctifying process is progressive and continues as we abide in Jesus. Just as we grow daily through the food we consume, so may we continuously grow in the Lord. The fuel for the Christian is the Word of God. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

Jesus explained the power of the Word: “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Are you ready to tap into an unbelievable source of power that can transform your character?
