Vincent and Britny Healed and Forgiven, Part 1
Read Time: 2 min

Vincent grew up Catholic and never had a relationship with Christ. Actually, he was never really interested in knowing Jesus at all. When he was 18, he joined the military and was swept away with the world.
He remembers, “I always had on my headphones, listening to satanic music with lyrics that literally blasphemed Christ. One day, while listening to this music, I decided to carve 666 into my knuckles on my left hand, on the index, middle, and ring fingers. I cut deep enough to make sure the scars stayed on my fingers.”
Britny, his wife, grew up with a Baptist mother and a Catholic father. She went back and forth between the two, very confused as to which religion would work best for her. “I still remember as a 7-year-old sitting on our front porch singing to God and talking with Jesus. I felt such love for my Heavenly Father at a young age. It filled a void left by my absent father who never had time for me.”
Around the age of 14, she started hanging around a crowd that was into drugs, partying, and alcohol. “I got caught up in all of this, including an addiction to prescription pills. It helped me feel numb. That’s all I wanted.”
Britny fell deeper and deeper into drugs. Her parents lost all control of her. “After one night of heavy partying, I was pulled over and ticketed for thousands of dollars. I was ashamed. I knew my life needed to change. I was 17 and dropped out of high school, got my GED, and started attending college.”
Sometime later Vincent met Britny. He recalls, “When we first met, she saw the scars on my knuckles and freaked out. She thought it was very scary.” Soon Britny was pregnant and scared. Vincent was only 19 and got an honorable discharge from the Navy. She explains, “We moved in with my parents, eventually got married, and I continued my addictions. After our daughter was born, she became so sick we took her to the hospital.”
While they were at the hospital, God spoke to them …
Reflect: Have you ever gone through a trial that turned out to be a doorway to God’s leading? Every difficulty in life can be used by God for good.
