An Amazing Fact: Have you heard that the Chinese Communist Party is rewriting the Bible? It’s true! China is seeking to adapt Christianity to its communist society so that the government can better control religion and more easily assimilate people of faith.

 

Whether in China or in the Middle East, making a commitment to Christ can be dangerous. That was true for Aydin, a young Muslim man. When he decided to get baptized, the devil was furious!

 

In many Islamic cultures, leaving the faith means losing your family. Sometimes, you even lose your life. I think you’ll agree that these honest, seeking souls need our persistent prayers and support!

But the devil is determined to stop hope-giving messages from entering countries where persecution has crushed the local church. Christ warned, “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20). You can help break through these barriers and reach those searching for answers behind enemy lines.

 

Amazing Facts takes the gospel commission seriously. We don’t focus only on the soft, easy places of the world to proclaim truth. In fact, you are boldly advancing Earth’s final warning even into areas where governments have stopped the Bible from reaching seekers—like China, India, and the Middle East.

 

But sometimes, opposition comes from within families (Matthew 10:21). That’s what happened to Aydin…

 

The Wrath of the Dragon

About six years ago, Aydin was introduced to Christianity by a high school friend—and he was given an Amazing Facts DVD called The Final Events of Bible Prophecy. The 40-minute documentary created a deep interest in his heart for more truth, so he began to study the Bible.

 

That did not go over well with his family.

 

Aydin’s new wife didn’t like his newfound faith, so she left him. Imagine the heartache! And when he planned to get baptized, the devil’s wrath went into high gear. Aydin’s father was thrown in jail, his sister went missing, and his mother was emotionally shattered by it all.

 

In the Bible, Satan is represented as a dragon who wars against those who “keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17). But persecution does not excuse us from sharing God’s lifesaving truth in tough places. After all, Christ promised to help: “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me … to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

 

I praise the Lord for the emails and letters we receive every day from all over the globe, from people like Aydin, who, through your gifts, found truth and everlasting life despite threats and persecution!

 

Nothing New Under the Sun

We shouldn’t be surprised when Satan attacks. Ever since the days of Daniel in Babylon, the devil has influenced entire governments to destroy the remnant. King Herod was willing to kill babies in Bethlehem to destroy Jesus!

 

And today, China’s effort to control religion has reached an outrageous new level—rewriting Scripture! For instance, in the story of the woman caught in adultery, instead of telling the woman to go and sin no more, the new “translation” says Jesus claims He Himself is a sinner—then He stones the woman!

 

We know any effort to rewrite Scripture will ultimately fail. “The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8). Amen! But in the meantime, the undiluted gospel must continue going to China and other places where people like Aydin are suffering. We must not neglect to serve the bread of life to those living under oppression.
