Warning: Foundations of Truth Under Attack!

An Amazing Fact: In April 2013, the eight-story Ranza Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed, killing 1,129 people and injuring over 2,500. It housed a garment factory with heavy machinery, something that architects had warned against. Even though inspectors discovered cracks and asked that the building be evacuated, garment workers were forced by their employers to return to work, being assured that the building was safe.

“If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3).

Dear friend,

It’s December, and I confess, I had intended to write you a more traditional holiday letter. But I was deeply saddened by this recent headline from a Pew poll: “Christianity in the U.S. Continues to Decline at Rapid Pace.”

So much so, I could not shake the impression that the Holy Spirit wanted me to talk with you about an ongoing sinister, creeping crisis.

What crisis? The very foundations of Christian truth are under attack. Key teachings of the Bible—all found in the first three chapters of Genesis—are constantly being undermined by a relentless bombardment of media intent on assaulting our core Christian values.

That’s why I’m so thankful that you are a key partner with Amazing Facts in discipling all believers and encouraging churches to stand firm on the foundations of Genesis.

Satan is working furiously to destroy several bedrock teachings of Scripture—creation, Sabbath, marriage, the sanctity of life, health laws, and the deadly nature of sin. He knows that if he can undermine these foundational truths, segments of the church will develop cracks and eventually … collapse.

Amazing Facts has always believed that the best way to combat such deceptions is to stand firmly on the Word of God and courageously proclaim truth. Why? Because the battle for truth is ultimately a battle for souls—it is the truth that will save millions from a hopeless end. Exalting the truth is, in reality, lifting up Christ, who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

Attacking the Beginning

Some of the signs that we are living in the last days is the relentless attacks we see on seven foundational truths that the Lord established in the beginning …

  1. The Bible says, “In the beginning God created” (Genesis 1:1). But the world says the universe made itself and complex life out of nothing but time and blind luck.
  2. The Bible says, Male and female He created them” (v. 27). But the world says the biological differences between men and women are meaningless.
  3. The Bible says, “I have given you every herb that yields seed … and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food” (v. 29). But the world says we can eat anything that crawls across our plate.
  4. The Bible says God “rested on [and] blessed the seventh day and sanctified it” (Genesis 2:2, 3). But the world says the first day (or any other or even no day) is holy.”
  5. The Bible says, A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife” (v. 24). But the world says traditional marriage is obsolete.
  6. The Bible says, “God created man in His own image” (Genesis 1:27). But the world says unwanted children are nothing but cells and can be aborted on demand.
  7. The Bible says, In the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17). But the world says you’re immortal.

God Warned This Day Would Come

King David wrote, If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). He’s right! Whenever a people, including God’s church, cast aside the core teachings of Scripture, disaster will follow.

And the apostle Paul warned “that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of … pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power” (2 Timothy 3:1–5).

And what better way to destroy faith in the Bible than to enlist counterfeit Christian leaders to echo worldly beliefs? “Savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock … speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves” (Acts 20:29, 30). Just as the serpent lied to Eve, these wolves in sheep’s clothing continually inspire doubt regarding the inspiration of God’s Word—all from the pulpit!

Yet Scripture says, “Cry aloud, spare not; lift up your voice like a trumpet; tell My people their transgression” (Isaiah 58:1). That’s why Amazing Facts feels so strongly that we cannot sit on the sidelines. If we truly believe that we are living in the last days, we must sound a warning to the world and to God’s people—fighting error with truth.
