Empowering an Evangelism Explosion

An Amazing Fact: One of the loudest sounds in the history of the world was the volcanic explosion of Krakatoa in Southwestern Indonesia in 1883. The blast was equivalent to 200 megatons of TNT—10,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima—and could be heard more than 3,000 miles away. Sound waves from the explosion traveled around the globe seven times!

Her name is Eagerness, which happens to also describe her passion for sharing Jesus with others. She lives in a remote part of Indonesia, but that hasn’t stopped her enthusiastic desire for evangelism!

How many times have we hastily given up on witnessing for Christ because of some barrier that the devil has thrown in our way? Yet because of your loving gifts for Amazing Facts evangelism in Southeast Asia, many are turning to Jesus—even despite the very real threat of persecution.

Indeed, God has foretold that an explosion of evangelism will take place at the end of time: “After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory” (Revelation 18:1).

God has given us a last-day message to be boldly proclaimed—like the loud eruption of Krakatoa—with a “loud voice” (Revelation 14:7). You and I know that Bible truth will soon reverberate all over the globe. And you can be a bold part of it by helping to establish a strong base of evangelistic training in places like Southeast Asia, which will help drive the explosion of evangelism that will spread over the earth and lead souls to the gates of heaven.

That’s why I want to tell you about some new developments with our evangelistic training center in Indonesia, where God is doing a mighty work .

She Overcame Every Obstacle

While Eagerness lives in an isolated part of Indonesia, she was able to find our Amazing Disciples online program run by our Indonesia Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism (IAFCOE) team. Despite the many problems that plagued her studies, she finished the course and put her new skills to work fast.

I cannot think of a greater need right now than to train workers like Eagerness to share the everlasting gospel. I like the way one writer put it: “With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world” (Christian Service, p. 30). Amen!

It is God’s plan to multiply the voices of truth going out into the world, and this will happen when we establish evangelism training centers—like Elisha’s schools of the prophets—that teach students effective methods for mission work and giving Bible studies. That’s what you did for Eagerness!

Translating Truth

Soon after finishing her studies at IAFCOE, Eagerness found a young lady whose heart was searching for truth. They began Bible studies using the Amazing Facts Storacles of Prophecy series, which you helped translate into Indonesian.

Indeed, your gifts support the translation of multiple Bible resources for the precious people of Indonesia, where about 42 million speak Indonesian. And like the sound waves of Krakatoa, these life-changing materials can reach 198 million more souls who speak Bahasa Indonesian. For instance, the people in the neighboring country of Malaysia speak Indonesian, so our workers gladly share our materials with them.

With its mushrooming economy and global trading power, Indonesia is quickly becoming an essential base of ministry from which to reach surrounding nations in Southeast Asia with God’s end-time messages. There are millions of unreached peoples in nearby countries—Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, East Timor, Borneo, Papua New Guinea, and Singapore—who urgently need to hear the message of salvation. That’s why we believe God wants us there!

The Fear of Persecution

After finishing the Bible studies together, Eagerness’s friend accepted all the doctrines but was afraid to get baptized because of the persecution that often comes to Christians in her country.

It’s not easy to follow Christ in Southeast Asia. Many converts to Christianity experience pressure from their families to return to Islam. Churches have also been targeted, and extremist groups exert a strong influence on society. “If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20).

But after much prayer, Eagerness’s friend surrendered her life to Christ and was baptized in an isolated mountain creek by a Sabbath-keeping pastor. Eagerness shares, “She looked so happy!”

A New and Better Base of Operations

The outreach you are helping make happen in Indonesia is growing rapidly and is ready to begin a much larger work of training. Since 2010, our IAFCOE team has been looking for property in a rural area near Solo City, their current base of operations, to establish a new campus.

After years of prayers and waiting, God opened the door to a beautiful piece of land that is perfect for a small but effective evangelistic training site. We are now beginning the work of building dormitories, a meeting hall, classrooms, a studio for recording outreach programs, and more!

Will you help create this urgently needed evangelistic training center? It will take about $250,000 to complete this outreach-based campus—a center of heavenly influence that will impact all of Southeast Asia with the Bible truth.

Your generous gift of just $25 will put translated Bible truth into the hands of 28 seekers. An extra generous gift of $100 will help subsidize a third of a Bible student’s tuition for our four-month discipleship training, helping them to become a full-time worker for Christ. And a volcanic-sized gift of $1,000 or more will make a big difference in helping build our evangelistic training center that will equip new Bible workers to grow God’s kingdom in Southeast Asia and beyond. Whatever size gift you send today, God will use it to bring the good news to people who need Jesus through our truth-filled evangelism programs.

Friend, Eagerness has felt the pure joy of leading a soul to Christ. You can enthusiastically join her by supporting Amazing Facts evangelism overseas. It will bring you and many others an explosive smile that will never fade!

Bursting with eagerness to share Jesus,

Pastor Doug Batchelor
